What was the last movie you watched?

Wasn't too crazy about Oblivion. I agree with Oberon the story kind of lagging a bit. The CGI was done well though. (5/10)

I always find that the movies that I expect to totally suck generally don't suck as much when I watch them. I think it's because of my low expectations. Haven't watched World War Z, but I have a feeling I'll probably like it a little better than I expected.

Watched This is 40 and Olympus has fallen a few days ago and was happy with those selections. This is 40, although I'm not yet and don't have kids, did have some relatable stuff in it and I like Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann. (8/10)
Olympus Has Fallen was another good pick. Gerard Butler isn't difficult to watch for an hour and a half and the story was done well, although it was a little "Been there, done that" as far as the storyline goes. (8/10)

The last movie I watched was Tremors, which I viewed for the purposes of participating in a riff track commentary on the film. I actually really like Tremors and Tremors 2, but doing these commentaries is just part of what I do for my site.

The last movie I watched on my own was Batman Returns, which I've decided is my favorite Batman movie. I'm sorry, but Michelle Pfeiffer will always be my favorite Catwoman. She played that character like a truly tortured soul, so much so that when she gets (spoiler alert) pushed out of that window, it's apparent that she hasn't just had someone try to kill her -- she's been absolutely violated. Her reaction afterward in the apartment isn't that of someone who has just overcome an attempted murder, it is that of someone who has just been raped. When we see her go from a man-hating feminist to a fairy tale loving fan of Bruce Wayne, the conflict within her arises to the surface and it is absolutely apparent. What other Batman movie do we see that kind of feminine character development in? None of them. Hathaway was good, but she wasn't Pfeiffer good.

Batman Returns - better than The Dark Knight? Possibly. Better than The Dark Knight Rises? Definitely.

Have to agree with Haze. Dark Knight and Dark Knight Rises are two of my favorite movies. But the original Batman, although cheezy, is fun because I love me some Jack Nicholson.

The last movie I went to see was Pacific Rim. It was pretty good and the special effects were good as well. A lit of people didn't like it but I liked it to a certain degree.

2 Days in Paris

I think Julie Delpy has an amazing on-screen presence. I loved her in Before Sunrise/Sunset/Midnight, and finally got around to seeing this as I stumbled across the trailer yesterday. Happy to say it was quite good. Adam Goldberg is a hit or miss for me, but thankfully he did a good job in this one. The film reminded me a lot of the "Before" movies, but that's a good thing as I love those films. I'm hoping the sequel "2 Days in New York" is just as good, if not more.

Rewind This!

Fantastic documentary about the conception of the VCR and those who still collect VHS tapes to this day. Really loved this documentary as it brought a great deal of nostalgia for me as I used to collect VHS when I was younger. And is it just me, or do you miss the old cover art on video tapes which made the movie a lot better then what it actually was as opposed to these days with photoshopped covers with floating heads? Recommend this to anybody who used to love VHS!

I think The Search For Spock was the best Star Trek film too. The other ones are goid but this one is by far my favorite. The acting was just better in this one than it was in the other ones. Have you seen the new Star Trek films? They are good too, not as good as this one but not too bad.

I am so glad you loved Search for Spock the best as I find this one to be the best overall also. Yet I've never seen anybody agree with me... until now

Pineapple Express

Didn't like this the first time. But this time around it was... ok. Had a few good laughs but Seth Rogen annoyed me a little too much, but James Franco was great. Don't really have much to say about this one, so that's probably not a good sign. I understand people love this film, but it was just average for me.

Piranha 3D (2010)

What can you really say about this movie? It's obviously not taking itself too seriously, just some dumb horror fun. And that's what this film is: dumb horror fun. It's always great to see Christopher Lloyd in Doc Brown mode, and Jerry O'Connell was pretty good too. And loving Richard Dreyfuss appear in the opening scene. The rest of the cast are somewhat forgettable, even with Ving Rhames and Elizabeth Shue. The effects are good, but the 3D aspect hurts the film when viewed in 2D. One thing I will give the film is its blood and gore effects. They did a surprisingly great job. All in all, good dumb horror fun. Great if you have friends over to share a beer or two. If you think you're in for the next best horror film, you might want to look elsewhere.

I'm finally about to finish watching Kick-Ass 2. From what I've seen so far though, it's not as epic as I thought it would be, at least not in the beginning. You'd think the guy that plays Kick-Ass would be a little more badass after having polished his combat skills some. Although, maybe he really develops and I just need to wait to finish the story.

Just watched the movie side effects. That was a good suspense movie. You didn't realize what was going on at first, but I loved how Jude Law's character got them in the end. I was quite surprised because this movie was not a big movie, but it was very good. I will be buying myself a copy since I borrowed this from my sister.

Elysium

Had been anticipating this one as I really like District 9 and was looking forward to seeing Sharlto Copley as a bad guy (which I'm happy to say he did a fine job). Thankfully, Elysium was a great movie. Matt Damon was good as usual, the only problem I had acting wise was Jodie Foster and her accent. Seemed like she was trying to do a few different accents at once. But that's just a minor problem. Would recommend this to any Sci-Fi fan and anybody who loved District 9 as a lot of scenes from this reminded me of said movie.

Oh my God. This movie had my sides hurting from laughing to much. This is easily the funniest movie I'll probably see all year. I have to give props to James Franco. I really wish he would do more comedy films as he was so good here (especially "He's got to ggeeeooooo" - If you've seen this, you might know what I mean). Everybody was great in fact. Even Danny McBride who is a hit or miss for me, he was pretty funny. And the best cameo has to be.... well, I won't spoil it but look out for a gimp If you like any of the Seth Rogen/Apatow films, this should be a no-brainer!

Friday the 13th: Part VI - Jason Lives!

I love cheesy 80's slasher movies. A lot. Especially Friday the 13th as they are my favourite slasher movies. And since it was Friday the 13th a couple days ago, it only felt right to watch one, so I picked one I hadn't seen for a long time: Part VI. Although my favourite entry is Jason Takes Manhattan, this was pretty good... for a 80's slasher film. Who doesn't love Jason?!

I saw "The Land Unknown" today on TV. It's a sci-fi film from 1957. There were a lot of points where I laughed just because of the bad dialogue and old conventions in the film. There was one really crazy part in the film though - 2 real monitor lizard fighting to the death. They were shot in a way so that they looked like giant dinosaurs (trees and other wildlife in the background were small compared to the lizards, etc.). And man, these 2 lizards were mauling each other. There's no way you could get away with stuff like that today, you'd have animal cruelty orgz coming after your ass.

I heard that Elysium was good up until the end. That's funny that they wanted marshall mathers to play the main character instead of matt damon. I like how the recent string of movies have taken on r3volutionary and socialist themes. Do you think I should check out Elysium in theaters or wait until it is available to stream on the web? I've been able to find full films on the web only a year or so after they hit theaters.
