PS3 Games We'll Still Be Talking About In 10 Years

I find it pretty fascinating that over a decade later, people are still talking and arguing about Final Fantasy 7 & 8 in any game related forum or comment section I happen to land on. It made me wonder which PS3 games had the same effect on people in this past generation. I've never played it myself, but from what I can tell, it seems like Last of Us is the game that really got people talking this time around. Would you agree? If not, which PS3 game/s do you think will be discussed and remembered way into the future?

I think the Uncharted series will take quite a bit of clout with them into later gens. As far as exclusives go for the PS3, I feel that that's probably the flagship.

Games that resonated with me for years to come would be Oblivion and Heavy Rain

God of War, Uncharted, The Last of Us, Metal Gear Solid 4 and I think we'll keep hearing about Skyrim but that is more pc based but I know a lot of people will want to play it even 10 years from now.

I am pretty sure that people will not be forgetting Bioshock Infinite, Last of Us, GOW series etc any time soon. Last of Us in particular has gained a lot of attention for it's storyline and I am sure will be considered a legendary game in the future.

Within gaming stuff like God of War and The Last of Us (really depends on if they keep the ball going) would still be talked about. Beyond that, there's really very little from PS3 or 360 that would reach beyond gaming and make you go "X game/company/console RULED THE WORLD," like you had in the late 80s-early 90s with Mario. It doesn't have to be a Mario, but nothing really has that reach (well GTA and maybe FF if you're looking beyond USA and in Japan, but those aren't pure Sony produced) to where it's such a cultural thing that it could reach beyond 10 years.

A lot of the stuff from the previous generation is stuff we'll talk about 10 years down the road in passing with friends and on Top 10, 20, 50, 100 lists.

I'd give it up to GoW and The Last of Us. That's really about it that you could say "Sony really threw down on that 10 years ago, didn't they?"

I think the Uncharted series is probably going to go down in history as long as they keep making them every couple of years. Eh I guess CoD will always be talked about until the last game is developed as you get so many CoD references.

Oh if we're talking non-Playstation exclusives then some of the modern FPS, Skyrim, etc. Are games that will be talked about 10 years from now. I doubt a particular version of a FPS will be played en masse 10 years from now since it comes out every year. I think a franchise as a whole would be discussed in that respect. Specific franchises from FPS: CoD would be remembered favorably and Battlefield would probably be mixed not because of the bugs, but the backlash.

God of War, Uncharted, The Last of Us, Metal Gear Solid 4 and I think we'll keep hearing about Skyrim but that is more pc based but I know a lot of people will want to play it even 10 years from now.

I agree with you, those games are going to be classic for sure. And people from the future will play it and still find them amazing!
Just like we do with pokemon, zelda or even tetris.

God of War is the first game that comes to mind, because as graphics get better and better, what still stands out is gameplay. However, God of War was a PS2 game first, so I think when people think God of War, they will think of the PS2. If everyone says The Last of Us, that's probably true, but I haven't played it.

Maybe Journey, it seems like it would be less cool when you don't have anyone else to play with. Games that aren't "fun" aren't usually remembered, or are just footnotes.

Would definitely throw my vote to Uncharted, The Last of Us and probably God of War (though haven't played that one).

If Atlus delivers, I'm sure we'll still be talking about Persona 5.

Atlus will deliver. Atlus has never not delivered. As far as talking about it 10 years from now? I could see that. It's one of two series in the SMT franchise to actually get significant play (the other being the Devil Summoner series on DS). Hopefully the main series breaks out as well as SMT IV was good and there's an MMORPG for it.

'The Last Of Us' is currently my top all-time game. I'm usually quite a critic of many modern games for a variety of reasons, but that game really did have just about everything that I like in a game. It had the story, it had the characters, it most certainly had the gameplay and it had soul. Finding all four of those things in a modern game for me is nigh on impossible. It also had truly superb graphics.

Naughty Dog really did make an absolute gem and the company has gained a lot of respect from me for it. 'The Last Of Us', to me at least, is a masterpiece - and that's only something I've said about three or four other video games since I started playing them back in the very late 80's. It's not a phrase I throw around lightly.

I think that Naughty Dog games are going to have that legacy as well as the God of War series. There are other blockbuster series like Resistance and Killzone but those aren't really too memorable IMO. There's a handful of other games worth mentioning like Red Dead Redemption but those aren't PS3 exclusives so I don't think they fit on this list. Surprisingly enough, I read somewhere that God of War is incredibly popular in China for whatever reason.

My extremely reliable sources tell me that Rygar was popular in China and God of War is basically Super Ultra Rygar 2 The Max. Tecmo, where in the hell is Rygar? Get started on another one.

I thought Final Fantasy XIII brought back the essence of the genre? Wasn't it considered one of the greats? If nothing else, the music in that one was pretty awesome. Kinda brought me back to the old days of gaming.

Dude, the music of FF13 was rad, Final Fantasy has some great composers man. It wasn't that bad of a game but I guess it just didn't feel like FF7 so people automatically hate it. I still thought it could have been better though, a lot better.

I actually dug FF13. I was explaining it to SpaceTiger when I got it and ran a stream of it on Justin TV when breaking from my Voltron streaming marathon. He hated it. For players who played FF since IV opinions will be more heavily negative since those tend to be JRPG purists. Players since VII seem to be split to me. That's era where story and cinematics started to come together. The odd thing is that people who like IX warm up to 13 (however SpaceTiger didn't).

Then you get to people who really enjoyed FFX. In my experience they'll sink their teeth into FF13...well FFX generation fans and kind of lax JRPG fans who complain about the XP grinding.

It's not a PS3 game, but I still think people will be talking about GTA: San Andreas in 10 years time :D
