Twitch say's PS4 integration is a game changer

First let me say that I can't stand the phrase game-changer. It's used way too much and people need to knock it off. Still this partnership only helps Twitch because it gives them the boost in numbers that they need. I find that there was a huge segment of gamers that didn't know what Twitch was, but now their using the service for better or for worse.

Twitch loves their partnership

You're right on a huge segment of players didn't know what Twitch was since casuals make up the largest market of roughly anything. I don't think they needed the boost in numbers, but more people can't hurt. The diehards who watch particular streams that pull thousands--usually WoW, LoL, and Starcraft gamers--do extremely well for Twitch in addition to others who play blockbuster games who draw in the lower thousands.

Game changer.

Twitch isn't a game changer, it's along for the ride. It's like if Cloud got in a car, Biggs called shotgun, and Wedge said that Biggs was the chosen one and hero of the story.

I hate the term "game changer" and "next gen" (even though I use it...it's a habit).

Game changer for Twitch, yes but for Playstation, no. I wonder how many people actually knew that we can broadcast with the PS4 and cared to use it. I doubt that it is even a factor to deciding sales of the system. Using "game changer" is kind of blowing it out of proportion even if it did boost the amount of members signed up on Twitch.

Question: Do we know if twitch can record our mics or not? And if so can we set it so ours can be heard over in-game mics? This would be nice to know. Say i'm playing single player killzone, would I be able to have commentary while I play?

Man, Twitch kind of sucks. It would be fantastic if it was good enough to work fine even when there's a stream of a LoL tournament or something going on, but the site starts to slow down like crap so other streamers and viewers get screwed anyway.

Besides, it's not a "game-changer", definitely. It's just a feature.

To bring back something DrRipley put up:

Game-changer

I like how the official site for the Avenger's tagline is "The best gaming accessory for Xbox 360 and PS3 Controllers". They stand by that statement.

What in the hell is that? It seems cumbersome and unnecessary.

On topic, I love Twitch but it's not that big a deal on PS4. I have been watching it more than actually playing on my PS4 outside of Resogun.

I've never had a problem with Twitch or Justin.tv during an LoL tournament. Of course I just watch the larger players on Twitch and I'm guessing they wouldn't be affected by problems during a tournament or charity marathon.

I'll sign off on "not a game-changer".

Well the integration is obviously better for twitch, I can't really see what the Playstation 4 won or accomplished by doing this, maybe publicity, but it's irrelevant since there were already streams without this.

I'm guessing it's another avenue for Sony to get its commercials out there. There might even be events planned for the future via Twitch like gaming conference/expo stuff. Who knows.

I'm sure there's further plans to tie the two together more but Sony jumped on the Twitch thing since Twitch reels in money even though it seems like it wouldn't in execution, but definitely has a big viewing audience.

I'm not seeing what Sony got either other than another app on the PS4 and easier access into the Twitch community. I reckon there's something else there.
