What? You serious? I have family coming over that I don't want to talk to. Was hoping to have some quality Destiny time alone in my mancave. Guess I'll have to play one of the 3 games I got for Christmas instead 
Seems kinda silly to me that they are taking it down on Christmas. You'd think a lot of people would be playing with their families and stuff. Unless they plan on doing it in off peak hours like when people are sleeping or something like that.

They did not get hacked. There was and is still a DDoS going on brought to you by the Lizard Squad.
I am new to the PS4 as of this am and it is a sad state their network is not distributed that well which would help fend off this shit.
Xbox Live supposedly got hit to but no one I know was affected. I think it is Sony propaganda trying to save face.

Most of us pay for online service and this is the kind of sh!t we have to put up with! I'm about to go buy an Xbox because of this crap! What are these morons thinking?? Santa must not have given one of those bastards what they wanted so he decided to do maintenance on the online services!! I take it you didn't hear that this happened to Xbox Live too and also didn't hear that this was an attack on both MS and Sony. Perhaps you should read the news first before signing up on a forum just to whine and complain.

PSN is always undergoing maintenance it happens 1000 times a year it can't even be bothered to keep Lizard Squad from it's servers they're already lost £39.99 from me if they think i'm renewing my PlayStation Plus subscription for another year of Shambles they can think again i've see XBOX ONE for £119 in the sales i'm tempted very tempted to buy a XBOX ONE i got a Amazon Kindle yesterday i play games on that now & not put my own money in their hands (Sony) they've tested my patience over the years now i have 0% no point in renewing PlayStation Plus on my PS4 for a Shambolic service i'd rather put it in Microsofts hands their servers were back up in 8 minutes strange Microsoft do the stuff instead of sitting on their backsides all day ignoring it's costumers (PSN)
