I think it was the different setting...which is like you can't just stay in the same general setting forever and ever. Like Haymansafc, I know must generally consider RE4 as the last actual Resident Evil game with the survival horror approach.

The frozen load screen was pretty bad, but nothing a reset couldn't fix. Now a long/hanging load screen in game when transitioning rooms--that was awful

Also Alpha Protocol had potential. Games like that deserve a second game and some time in development to get it down and warrant a third.

The PSX was very reliable mainly because there was no reason to want to sit it on its side and have it fall over like the PS2. In my experience you would've had to have been doing some serious moving around or dropping stuff on it for it to mess up a disc.

I don't know, Pong was more generic than Tetris...but Tetris is extremely generic.

I first got into playing it on PS2 with III (which didn't work). Enjoyed IV and went back to play II which I would've given the Best JRPG honors to if I hadn't played DQVII.

I would like Crash back on PS4. I feel it could get a better than decent game and a solid sequel. I'm indifferent towards Jak and Daxter though. I don't mind it coming to PS4 since there is a definite fanbase, but I'm not jumping up and down for it.

I haven't heard anything on another Resident Evil. The Evil Within is done by the series creator and is coming out from Bethesda. It's supposed to be more like true RE getting back to the survival horror roots and away from action horror.

I've always had disdain for FFX and one of the major reasons was that the degree of exploration that was in the SNES and PSX era Final Fantasy games was absent from FFX. It was all corridor/space-corridor/space with pockets off to the side for you to get a chest. There was no actual overworld...

That's some pretty good estimating. It's not concrete, but 3 generations of a pattern seems valid. At any rate, I think it's safe to say that we might not get back to the PSX and PS2 era of Tekken releases when there 2 or 3 main storyline Tekken games and then the tag series.
