PlayStation Network vs Xbox Live?

Red Ring of Death
I don't get Xbox consoles. I've had one for almost 2 years and have never got the infamous red ring of death. One of my colleagues got one on his Xbox the other day. Is the red ring of death still an issue on the newer models of Microsoft's console? -
Is the Xbox 360 worth the investment?
I don't have an Xbox 360 because I've been quite satisfied with my PlayStation 3 so far. However, I've seen a few good games that unfortunately are exclusively for the Xbox 360? Does anyone have Microsoft's console? Would you recommend it?
