Best gaming headsets

1st let me say sorry for another thread about headsets
I have read all the threads and reviews.

Still can't find a Clear answer.

Money not being a issue. What's the best headset for
Ps4. I was thinking turtle beach phantom or px51. Then
I started seeing things about astro's. Never heard of them
But they have some good reviews. I personally like the design
Turtle beach has.

Sidebar I like wireless. Don't want a wired.

The wireless Turtle Beach headsets are expensive, but well worth it. My hubby has a wireless one and it's amazing. I don't mind being wired, but if money wasn't an object, I'd definitely go for the wireless Turtle Beach headset. I can't say anything about Astro's, as I don't have any experience with them.

I'm using a pair of Tritton Kunai. Quite good. Got them for 39.99, which is the cheapest I've seen them go for.

I have to see if you can get the same downloads as you can turtle beach.

I've heard a lot of good reviews about Turtle Beaches. I personally don't own a pair but I've used them before and they're amazing. The quality feels like it could never break so if you're a rager then I suggest you buy Turtle Beaches. I can't really think of any other headsets.

I did a lot of research before I bought my headset. Tritton's and Astro's seem to have good points about them, but the Ear Cup shape and size didn't seem to fit quite well. I looked into a PC company called Sharkoon. They have a TRUE surround sound headset with a total of 8 speakers! Four in each ear cup. But they were wired and had a ton of cables needed to make them work properly. I then looked at Turtle Beach. The only one I found that would work with my set up was the PX4's and the price was about $160 US. They are wireless, have virtual surround sound, and have multiple pre-sets. They also have Bluetooth, so I can sync up my cell phone and answer calls or listen to my stored music without having to take them off. They will ONLY work with an Optical Input. Hope this helps!

Im also curious about this topic as i too havent gotten a solid answer for ps4. Has anyone tried logitech 930? And are they compatible with ps4?

Apparently Logitech 930's are compatible with the PS4. Although the volume button doesn't function correctly.

All audio settings for volume have to be set from within the device settings.

Well not only PC,they are a German company and Ive been using Sharkoon for years on my PS3 and now PS4.
I have the X-Tatic Digital 5.1 True surround model with those 4 speakers in each ear cup.
The 'ton' of cables and 8 speakers total is needed to get the true surround sound (none of this 'virtual' crap..lol).
Tritton has a true surround model that works the same.'Ton' of cables and all.

Here's a post I made a while back: http://ps4forum.com/394-playstation...erals/3599-need-headset-advice.html#post28232

Here is the Sharkoon I use: http://www.sharkoon.com/?q=en/content/x-tatic-digital

And I suggest check the topic I made many posts in about headsets: http://ps4forum.com/394-playstation-4-accessories-peripherals/3599-need-headset-advice.html

I was looking at getting the X-tatic Pro 7.1's, but I could only find them online, which was not a major deal breaker, until i saw the return policy if the device was defective or damaged. That was the ONLY reason i went with the Turtle Beach PX4's. I've read nothing but great reviews on Sharkoon, and was a bit disappointed that none of the major electronic stores carried the Pro 7.1 version.

So i was reading about the stereo sound only coming from ps4 controller when headset is hooked up to it and if i really want surround sound that i need to hook it up to the optic port in the ps4. Does anybody recommend any wireless headsets with decoders for ps4?

The PS4 only has two ways of outputting sound. Optical and HDMI. If the headset has a seperate "control module", then I would recommend using the optical output of the PS4. The "stereo" output from the controller is for the chat function.

Those newer Sharkoon headsets Im sure only have the single speaker in each now,so they are also 'virtual surround'. Not sure why they went that way as I dont think they make the 4 speakers in each ear versions anymore.Pity.

Cant be,not for headsets anyway,as even though Im using the optical port on PS4 for my game sound now (for surround) before that I was getting game (stereo) and chat sound when I only had it plugged in to the USB port.

I guess I misread the documentation I got with my Playstation. Are you sure that you didn't have to hook up any stereo cables to your TV and power up your headset via USB?

Guess I was wrong. Just looked up this info via Google, and this is what I found.

On PlayStation 4, a launch day firmware update - version 1.5 - should see most USB headsets used on PS3 up and running just fine.

"All our USB headsets should receive both game and chat audio once Sony pushes an update to the PS4, which it says will be available on day one," Turtle Beach said. SteelSeries' director of audio, Dan Radin, nodded: "This is the situation for all USB headsets, not only SteelSeries'."

He then teased: "We're going to be introducing something very exciting, very soon - especially for console players - that will enable cable-less PS4 chat once Sony issues its USB headset update."

Turtle Beach headsets that use an optical connection will receive audio but "not all" can be used for chat. But Astro has stated that its optical headsets like the A50 will be "fully compatible" with PS4 following the 1.5 update.

Ya learn something every day! Lol

When I started using my Sharkoon on PS4 I connected the same way as on PS3,optical for game sound and USB for chat but I forgot to change the PS4 sound output settings, thats why I was only getting stereo sound through the USB. I had it this way for quite a few weeks before actually changing the audio output settings on PS4..lol..silly me.

Sound setting for using it in PS4 are:
  • Set optical as primary (you will still get sound through HDMI but you can mute that if needed) and Bitstream, then 5.1 or DTS,or both if your headset supports it.
Linear PCM seems to only give stereo otherwise.
  • Headset to 'chat only'.

But once I did sound was instantly different and then I needed to change front/rear,center and sub sound volumes. You can change them independently, just like a surround speaker set up.
I usually have the sub woofer down, though is sound good it gets in the way sometimes when playing and can get over powering.
I turn the rear higher so to hear footsteps better when playing FPS games. Results vary, depending on the game, works good on Ghosts and MW3,not so effective with Black Ops 2.
