Dont have multiplayer option

Hi! I need some help please. I bought Minecraft online through the PS4 store. However when we have looked at adding servers so my daughter can play games with others we don't have the multiplayer option on the opening page of the game (as it shows you on the youtube tutorials for adding servers) I have looked all over the net and can not find an answer to help us out. What do we need to do? Aplogies if its something really simple i'm not overly tech minded!
Thank you!

Hey Alex! Yes we already subscribe to PSPlus. All updates have been done on the game so I know its not that we need the latest version. We even uninstalled and reinstalled it. Do we need to set up a server of our own or have we bought the wrong version of the game? I'm completely confused! We can play online and get invited to other peoples worlds and can also invite. We just don't have the option to add servers? We have looked at everything within the game, all settings ect but I'm at a total loss as what we need to/ can do?

Hi Pink,

as far as I know, the console versions have the option of local split-screen, public servers, and private servers for multiplayer.

You can't switch your world over to multiplayer when you start a single player game. However, you can start a private multiplayer with an invite list, and only your friends will be allowed.

Now, if you want to host a private session and be the server for your friends, this is not possible throu a PS4 but you must have the PC version of the game and download the multiplayer application from here: https://minecraft.net/download
