Dragon Age 2 - What did YOU think?

First off, Dragon Age: Origins had me completely lost in the game, story, the world. It was an amazing experience that kept me up almost constantly until I finished it. At work all I could think about was getting home to continue the story. The world was huge and the ending was epic and satisfying. I felt the time I put into beating the game was worthwhile (I rarely actually finish games). Companions and romances were a touch that made the game so much easier to sink into it. I loved the camp, where you could interact with your companions, which was often an interesting experience. I thought relationships were well crafted, decisions had real consequences, and I truly cared about what happened to many of the NPCs.

Then comes Dragon Age 2: minus the camp system, plus separate locations for companions (making it a PITA to talk to any of them), unsatisfying NPCs, a tiny world. Yes, in Dragon Age 2, you can explore one city and one mountain. Hurray!

I'm not saying it's a terrible game. I'm saying it's a terrible game when compared to its predecessor. I was insanely excited to play Dragon Age 2, and sorely disappointed shortly after popping it in. I haven't put tons of hours into it - it just didn't grip me - but I feel I played enough to say without hesitation that it was extremely disappointing.

Maybe I was expecting too much when I thought the developers would keep the things that made Dragon Age: Origins so engrossing. What do you think?
