Good news for Vita owners regarding the PS4

Apparently any and all games not requiring additional hardware will support the remote play aspect of the Vita. So with a bit of downgrading you can hook up to your console via Wi-Fi and keep the action going. This was always my favorite feature of the Vita and I'm glad to see Sony expanding it rather than curtailing it the way Nintendo or MS might have. I also hope to see it being used in a way that builds communication and cooperative play, but I suppose that's something that is something to look for in the (hopefully near) future.

I think Sony needs to do this in order to boost the sales of the Vita. The way I see it, the device hasn't really caught on yet on with the masses. People now tend to purchase a tablet or a smartphone rather than a handheld console. With this move, future PS4 owners would also be enticed to purchase a Vita.

Maybe, but looking at the 3DS it seems like handheld sales are just slower to rise these days. It may be that the Vita never catches on or it maybe that some circumstance of the Market is required before it finally does. I think we should give it a bit more time and space before calling fail on it.

I have have yet to buy a Vita but this is one more reason that I should get one. While there are a few good reasons to buy the Vita any extra's will certainly nice, also while I can't think of many games that I currently want except that new one from MM and Persona 4 Golden.

I'm sure this will boost sales a bit. However, I don't think the Vita will ever really take off- it'll mostly be a niche game console. But having it be a portable PS4 with crossbuy could encourage a lot of people to buy it with minimal effort on Sony's part to make new games.

It really looks like they are trying to push hard with the Vita, but I really don't think it's gonna happen in the West. The 3DS has a very strong presence, and here in the UK the PS3 is doing poorly in comparison to the 360 , so I don't think this will incentivise many people in the UK

Sure, but since the PS4 is about to drop and the Vita links to either we'll have to see. There is also the issue of the new slim PS3s which could help sales of the Vita. It really depends - of course I like that the 3DS is doing well (or better than it was) since I really want Nintendo to keep on trucking.

Nintendo still lose an advantage.

PS Vita can be used as the Gamepad Wii U! lol:cool:

PS Vita will have his moment of glory at GamesCom. Sony is not going to give up. It lacks the success of the PSP.
Finally, all PS4 games will be playable on PS4. I can not wait to see it!
They should have done this for the PS3.

This is a great promise, but I want to see it! In my opinion it's going to sell a lot of PS Vita!:rolleyes:

True and it is no where near as unwieldy as the Smartglass MS is trying to push. That said I am almost kind of wary because I can see this becoming a dead-end where these guys push themselves into a corner from overspecialization in regards to add-ons and accessories and whatever. At the end of the day I just want to enjoy my games and relax.

I think that Sony is touting too hard at the Vita-PS4 connectivity. Yes, that is a great feature as proved by the Wii U. But ultimately, it would still come down to the games that are available for the Vita. If Sony could provide a strong lineup for Vita games, I'm sure sales would be off the charts. Why not line up SOCOM, plus a Siphon Filter Remake, plus a Last of Us spin-off, plus an exclusive KH port, plus a neat platform game release plus a Final Fantasy game on the side. Then top it off with a KillZone Vita!
