Hoping to see less FPS' this cycle

I agree. I was never a big fan of the genre to begin with, and having too much of it has made me grow even more tired of it. I hope they come out with more colorful games, they all seem to have the same grayish monotone nowadays.

I remember watching a comparison video posted here where they guy was describing the differences in visuals for...one FPS and he was like "...the colors are vibrant..." I saw mostly black, grey, and brown (with white and night time blue making appearances). Don't know how you get "vibrant" out of black, grey, and brown.

...most be eyes filtering out the rest of colors or something.

You'd love the gray, brown, and black first person slashers, damn it. Watch: 2014-2015 will see the rise of corridor sword, knife, axe, and blunt object combat.

That is a game I'd play. I'd always use the blunt object. What about projectiles though? Like grenades and so on?

I don't mind the crazy proliferation of the FPS genre (I love FPS games after all) but the gaming world can definitely do with more sunshine. I mean I don't see a lot of lighthearted games anymore beyond the traditional genre games from Nintendo. Blacker than the blackest black games are awesome but there can be a little more space for the other stuff.

I suck at FPS and can never really get into them. I don't mind the genre though, I just think there needs to be more variety. Last generation was so boring with CoD dominating. Now we have Battlefield growing in popularity but it's too damn similar. I'm okay with games like Halo and Killzone because they feel quite a bit different. I want to see more variety.

I don't hate FPS games, and there have been some great ones. But the genre is so overwhelming which the majority of titles released for both the Xbox 360 and PS3 being FPS titles. It's pretty easy to get sick of them because the genre is popular and it's easy to cash in on. No one wants the genre to go away, we all just want a break.
