Japanese/Anime PS Games General

I've been playing Yakuza 5 recently, and it got me thinking to myself that ever since PS one, I've been seeing and hearing less and less about Japanese exclusive games. So I thought I'd ask you guys if you have any favorite or know of any good anime and Japanese exclusive games. Any game suggestion from any Playstation product is welcome!

Also, since I've never really played any anime game at all, except for maybe FF (if that counts) and DBZ, would you say that knowing the anime show itself significantly adds to the experience, or can it be enjoyed without knowing the references?

What do you mean by Japanese exclusive games? There are a lot of games from Japan but I don't get it when you say the term exclusive.

Resident Evil is a Japanese game. Metal gear is a Japanese game. Tekken is a Japanese game and so is Soul Calibur. There are still a lot of Japanese games out there. With regards to games that are based on anime, there's Naruto, Dragon Ball and Dragon Warrior (an RPG with a Dragon Ball look)

I think that Resonance of Fate is one of those underrated gems that came out at the wrong time and didn't received the praise it deserved. I recommend to everyone that loves RPGs and action packed games.

The Tales of series is my favorite series. EVER.
