"Just for You" recommendations has no items

Hello

I'm new to PS4 and have about just two dozens games in my library. Two days ago PS4 would not connect to the PSN network and internet in general (ISP staff explained to me afterwards that some of the DNS servers they're using was DoS attacked). Not knowing the reason I were trying to resolve the problem locally. Changing user on PS, resetting WiFi, restarting PS4 , etc. Everything to no avail. At night they fixed the DNS server and PS4 was able to connect again. Alas! Although PS4 works as before the screen with recommendations "Just for You" completely blank. Before the accident it has quite a number of recommendation and I used them a lot when deciding what game buy next. Please kindly tell me how I can get the recommendations back ?

I'm going to take it you're on the East Coast of the US. There was a massive DDoS attack that left much of the web useless. Websites like CNN, BBC, Twitter and Spotify were taken offline (which ironically, I was using Spotify during the entire time of the attack with no issue...) and yes, PSN and XBox Live were impacted. How a DDoS attack works is the hackers crash servers by using a program to make requests on the server and the server can't handle it. Sometimes hackers do it for money, retribution (like when the Westboro Baptist Church's website is always attacked), and to show vulnerabilities. Supposedly in this case, the hackers were showing how vulnerable this companies servers were. Many times after an attack, it takes time for services on a server to come back as it's still limping along and resetting back to normal from the influx of requests which brought it offline. What Sony probably is doing is getting the essential services up and running, such as the PS Store, Online Multiplayer, etc. Recommended to You is probably not a feature they deemed as essential to their service and is low on the priority list. Give it some time, I'll bet it'll be back in the next day or so.

Here's a link to the attack. What makes this one interesting is they used networked smart devices like toasters and refridgerators and I read too they went through security cameras. Always knew it was a bad idea to network everything

Thank you! I'll wait. The feature is of minor importance. Besides you answer and the article you provided is an overcompensation for my tiny inconvenience of not having"Just for You" recommendations working temporarily. I read it like Asimov's story.
