Mallrats 2 confirmed!

Kevin Smith fans rejoice.
Not only are we getting Clerks 3 but Kevin Smith has confirmed he is also doing Mallrats 2!

Kevin Smith has confirmed the long-awaited sequel to the 1995 cult classic Mallrats is happening, with filming due to commence in 2016.

Speaking on local Tuscon morning show Rock102 Mornings with Shmonty & Carolina (via THR) this past weekend, Smith confirmed the script is still being written, though there's no news as yet if the original cast of Jason Lee, Ben Affleck, Shannon Doherty and Stan Lee will be back.

"It's half a script right now, and we're pulling our loot together," he said. "We've got up until the beginning of 2016. By the time we get to May 2016, we're going to be shooting."

Looks like Kev's filming Mallrats 2 first and Clerks III later (something about the mall they're shooting in is set to be closed down by the years end)

I'm very much looking forward to Mallrats 2. Sure, it may not be a necessary sequel but I'd love to see where everybody is at these days. I would love if Ben "Batman" Affleck made a little cameo.

I'm guessing maybe (if he is indeed making an appearance) he'll be fresh out of prison and be after Brodie (Jason Lee) for revenge.

Michael Rooker is indeed in it. In fact, every single main cast member from the first is coming back for this one. Even Lafours!
