Microsoft ends XP support

Windows XP is 13 years old now, and for an operating system that lasted more than 10 years in service, its pretty amazing. You don't see softwares that last that long and is still completely useful. But yeah, its too old now and I guess Microsoft decided to let go since the prolonged support for an OS that old might cost them more and besides, developers aren't really that hot for XP anymore so I guess its a welcome goodbye.

I got Windows 7 after XP ended. People were holding out hard for XP when Windows 7 came out. It was just a dependable OS. People hung around a bit for Windows 2000 as well, but not as long as XP.

I've been using Windows 7 for some time now. I don't have the fondness for it I had for XP or 2000, but it does its job. That's all I really need of it.

I knew the time was coming when they'd ditch XP, but I was holding out. I sent off for Windows 7 last week. It came with my notebook, but the desktop is still running XP.
