I'm sure that most of you have heard of the rather ambitious space exploration game by the guys that brought us Minecraft. But as it turns out , the project has been on hold since April and now it has been officially cancelled.

In April, Persson said he had put the game "on ice" as a result of a "creative block," but indicated that he continued to support the project. Fans remained hopeful until this week, when during a Team Fortress 2 livestream, Persson said he had no future aspirations for the game.

Notch's 'Minecraft' follow-up '0x10c' officially dead, but its gameplay could live on | The Verge

I'm personally quite dissapointed, Mojang have been putting out some very cool games with Minecraft and then Scrolls, and the Mojam humble bundle , and this was looking pretty good, there was some early footage released too, it's sad to see it go.

Honestly, I am not surprised.
Judging by the footage and what Notch has said about it in the past it really didn't seem like he had much in mind for it, anyway. He just thought "hey, a game in space would be neat" and that seems to be about it. He wanted to recreate some of what made Minecraft work without doing just "Minecraft in Space" but didn't seem to actually have a clue as to how to pull that off.

Really? I think that the project was actually doing quiet well, he was taking his time with it and it seemed like the sky was really the limit here . They had huge funding thanks to minecraft so he could really focus on making the perfect game, it seemed like he had the right idea and the game would come out just fine. But I guess that this was not the case after all.
