New Hard Drive

I bought a NYKO Databank and a 4TB HD. When I try to start up safe mode it says connect controller with USB. So I connect it but I get no response when I press the PS button. Anyone know a solution to this?

Try unplugging it and plugging it back in. May have to hit the PS button a couple times. I actually replaced my hard drive in my PS4 a couple days ago and the controller did the same thing in Safe Mode. I just unplugged the controller and plugged it back in, gave it a second then hit the button.
