I love the thing. I play it a lot. Honestly, I am happy with it getting so many indies too, something that people whine about. I mean, the indies might be ports of PC indie games, but a bunch of them simply play much better on a handheld.
I haven't bought many games, truly (AC3: Liberation and PSASBR came with the system, then I bought Persona 4 Golden, Soul Sacrifice, Guacamelee! and Dragon's Crown, all of which are fantastic) yet I have a massive backlog thanks to Playstation Plus and it's full of great games like Uncharted and Gravity Rush.
I'm really happy with it. It's only gonna get better as more games start to get localized.
If Sony is smart, they will release the Vita TV* in the west for around $100 or so. It will sell loads and boost the Vita's install base, which would interest publishers. It would be great for everybody involved.
*Edit: I meant Vita TV not Vita.

I have a PS Vita and will have to say that Sony is definitely the leader when it comes to making handheld gaming devices. I had the PSP 3000 and absolutely loved the functionality of it and the Vita is no different. The touchscreen is flawless, the vivid screen is fantastic and the features are rich and plentiful. I really can't find much to say that is negative about the Vita at all. This one is with me to stay.

My daughter has one and yeah, it's quite easily the most powerful feature packed handheld out there. Everything else is a baby toy.
$100 per unit in the U.S. though? Not gonna happen.

It's a pretty good machine, I think, but they might be doing something wrong, in my opinion, seeing as the DS is a way less powerful machine but somehow selling a lot more. Unlike with the older PSP when they were at least competitive. I think they should try to return to that former glory since it is obviously achievable, but then again I'm not really an expert tech businessman.

That was a reply to my post? I meant the Vita TV but obviously I left out the TV part, hahaha... my bad. I meant the Vita TV, yeah, because its price in yen is around 100$.
I don't have the Vita but I have tried it and it is certainly a good machine, worth the money in my opinion. The library of games isn't very huge right now, but it's still a relatively new console and hopefully more good games will be released for it in the future. The Vita is a very universal device and I wouldn't even call it a video game console, it's a portable entertainment system more likely.

I've tried it once or twice, and while I'd like it to do well, I don't really have much interest in it at the moment.
The problem I have is that it seems like they're pushing it as a handheld PS3, which I don't feel works. Part of why Nintendo's handhelds work so well is that they're different to their console counterparts. The other big problem with it being so similar is that the games are also similar, giving no incentive to own both a Vita and a PS3.
Don't get me wrong, it's incredibly impressive technology, and once I've bought the things that are more important to me right now (a PS4, gaming PC and a new guitar) I'll likely get one, but right now it's just not for me. I do hope it gets more games soon though - as a Wii U owner I know what it's like to buy a console and not have much to play on it, and I wouldn't wish that on anyone.
