Playstation plus account transfer ?

Hi all,

Just moved over from being a 360 user for years. Bought an Xbox One and got rid. Just picked up a good condition PS4 about one hour ago and haven't switched it on yet. So still a 100% PS4 n00b.
The user profile is still setup and set to auto login.
He has about 6 months Playstation Plus left on that account and said I can use it if I want as he is now XB1.

My question is, can I transfer his remain PS+ time a new PSN account that I will create today ?
I will probably reset the PS4 to factory defaults but haven't yet in case there is a way to do this.

I have had a Google and found an official statement saying it can't be done but just checking if there is another way ?

No, I don't believe you can. However since he has an active PS+ membership on his account I think you'll be able to use that to get online.

I do want to create my own PSN account. I assume you mean sign in a his account and use it that way ?

Well like Xbox you require PS+ to play online. I believe if you have an account with playstation plus on it, then you won't need to buy a subscription for your account until that one runs out.

So when you create your account you won't have to buy PS+ until his comes out, even though you're using your own account.

Just thought I would update the post in case anybody else has the same query.

I created a new account and it asked me to sign up for ps+ , so the answer is - it is linked to the account rather than console. It was my suspicion as I am a previous Xbox Live Gold member (still play Fifa 14 on xbox actually ha)

What you could do is download their profile onto your console, and that way EVERY USER on the PS4 can take advantage of PS Plus.

Although you are able to grab 14 days free Playstation Plus from their website.

Ahh, the profile was on the console with auto login. I created a new account and it said I needed to subscribe to PS+, that was with the PS+ subscribed account still on the console.
I have initialised since, so it's gone, doh
