I thought I would share my experience with regards to registering my 'gamer tag' with Activision for GHOSTS. Bearing in mind I had already registered my email address that is linked to my PSN account with Activision.
On 18th February 2014, I contacted Activision to inform them I was having trouble registering my PS4 on their website. I explained that after entering my email address and password, I kept getting the message to enter my 'community name' i.e. gamer tag. I explained to them that even though I entered my gamer tag and agreed to their terms and conditions, the system kept returning me to the screen asking me to register my community name.
I was then advised to create a new email address and register my PS4 to the new email address and then try to login. Once logged I would then be able to change my email address to the 'old' one and register my gamer tag. Well imagine my surprise when after creating the new email address and being able to register my PS4 to it, I was not able to change the email address and now had an email just for Activision!!!
So back onto their website I went and registered the above. I then was contacted by another person who asked me about the whole scenario all over again. They then advised me to do the same and when I told them I had they asked me to deactivate the new email address and register on the 'old' one.
I tried to do this and re-register with Activision and again kept getting the message that my gamer tag was already registered to 'another' user!!! WTF??? The support officer then said they would escalate the problem further. This has been going on until yesterday when I had final had enough of going around in circles.
I contacted SONY Support and explained the above to them. I was advised to create a new gamer tag BUT I would lose all my trophies, purchase etc... I by this time did not care so did as advised. I have now re-purchased all my DLC and paid for a new 12 month subscription to PSN.
I know a lot of you will be thinking why pay for two accounts when you only need the one. I agree but after trying to sort the above out with Activision I had really had enough. I have posted my comments on their website under 'my cases' and advised them I will be posting my experience so that anyone who may/may not have had any problems would be made aware.
I have had no comeback after asking them to possibly refund me the 2nd DLC as a good will gesture given that I had originally been told by one of their customer support representatives to create a new email and now this has led me to lose my original registration.
I even asked them to delete my account so that I could re-register my 'old' email address with them but was told that this was not possible!!!!!
There you go my rant over.
David.
P.S. Lovin' Ghosts!!!!
