PS4 will not need to be "Always Online"

Well, I think that Microsoft's "always online" fad has taken a huge hit when Sony announced that gamers don't need to connect to the internet in order to play. Well that's the way that it should always be. Microsoft is just being a pain in the butt, wanting to monitor their users every time. PS4 all the way!

Yeah, that's definitely a reason why the PS4 is one of my favorites at the moment. I'm sure Xbox will do something about this, it's just what they will do.

Yeah, I see Microsoft ditching this crappy policy within a years time, no doubt. If they don't, they risk alienating MILLIONS of people and I don't think they are THAT stupid.

Or are they?

I'm so happy about this. Like I said before, I think Microsoft may be kicking themselves for choosing to have this silly feature. I really think many people will be vouching for the PS4 simply based on this feature on the new Xbox.

I really do think Microsoft will drop a few of their "restrictions" by the time the Xbox One comes out or soon afterwards. Anyways, this is great news. Not everyone wants to make the switch online. Not everyone can afford to or have good internet connection. Basically, Xbox One has become a yuppy machine.

Am i the only one that feels that we came to such a stupid time that we are happy to being able to stay offline to play games? Isn't this something we should have guaranteed for the get go? Who thought that this would be a good thing in the first place?

I like to travel with my console in the backpack, having said that, I'm always going to go for the console who doesn't need a permanent online connection. I understand it's cool to "always be connected" but... to be forced into this it's clearly not! Playstation played it safe and won on this aspect, so good job to them. Big NO to xbox!

It's Microsoft's fault I tell you. They're the reason why gamers are now on the edge. I think PS 4 will be Sony's saving grace after an up and down struggle with the PS 3. Microsoft, shame on you for trying to implement so much restrictions.

That was the one feature I really questioned when they first announced it (MS - always online), as I don't think society is quite there already when it comes to technology and convenience. Sure, it's a fun feature to think about, but I believe they attacked the feature too early and I fear people might get the wrong idea about it and just trash the whole thing altogether, which I think would be opportunity lost for everyone when the time comes that technology has caught up with everyone enough that most people would and could see this as a norm. I like that Sony chose to play it slowly, as I have no doubt that they will eventually require this feature some time in the future.

With the Xbox 360 slim's built-in Wifi, I'm used to being online all the time. On the other hand, I don't actually use the online features all the time. If I'm not playing a game on Xbox live, I'm generally not using the internet at all. It's the same thing with my PS3, but I don't do anything with the online capability except download updates and DLC.

Totally with you here lindbergh. Microsoft is really pissing a lot of people off with the whole online thing. Do they really think they can appease people by saying that Xbox One also allows offline gaming by saying that you can play the game for 24 hours offline before needing to reconnect to resume playing the game!? It's a real stupid idea, and not helping to enhance gamers' experience. All it's doing is to help protect Microsoft's earnings from the games they sell later on. Assuming anyone wants to buy that oversized TV remote aka Xbox One.

To have to be connected to the internet just to play a game is daft. It costs you more in electric bills, and some on net connection bills.. it's not very 'user friendly' especially if you areon a tight budget like many in the world.

We also know there are some people out there who have kits set up in their cars so that they can play games at car shows or the like.. there's always one who does it.

I'mglad they'venot made it necesary to connect to play.. This is one of the things that won me over.. just the idea by microsoft was enough to kill them off..
