PSN won't find players

Hey guys, I'm new here and english isn't my native language, so excuse me for the poor grammar/vocabulary.
So, I recently got my PS4 and created my psn account. A day after, I got the 12 month subscription for the PSN Plus. A few hours later, I tried to find my friends but it would say "0 players", even though I had spelled their usernames correctly.
I tried to type only one letter, to see if it would display any players, but still nothing.
Anyone else there having the same issue?

Yes, it happens very often that you can't even find your friends online, the ones who are already on your friends list. Also text messages are very slow to send, minutes at times. As a Xbox live user, recently moved to PSN, I am not happy at all about how Sony network works. So, you are not alone.

Try to do the search thru the PS app for your phone. I never had any problems finding anyone with it.
