Same game different discs

I borrowed CoD AW from a friend and played for some time with that disc and had a user profile and saved data on the system storage. I gave back the disc after buying my own, but after inserting the disc the game acts as if its a completely different game and has no connection to the old saved data on the hard disk. I tried deleting the old game itself from my hard disk, but it still won't read the saved data.

Can anyone help or suggest any solutions to this issue?

I don't think the disc really matters in that regard. At least, I've never heard of it making a difference since your player data is saved either a) on your local disc, b) in the cloud server in you have PS Plus, or c) depending on the game, your data is connected to your Playstation username and saved on the games servers.

The only thing the disc is used for is to load/install/play the game.

I did this with bloodborne and I used two different discs and I never lost my save progress. So I don't think it'll be a problem.

I think so, one of them is region two and the other is region free. Is that a problem? And if it is, is there a way to go around this?

yep thats it, when the region is different the whole thing is different. you should play from the beginning mate ;)

Well they are all region free for playing on any PS4 but DLC and saves it seems must be from same region.
R1 asian,R2 european and R1 U.S and not compatible with DLC and saves.
