Silent Hill Sequels

I was just going through my library last night as I was cleaning and found none other then Silent Hill 3. Let me say that I generally don't jump into horror survival that often unless there's hilarity to be had similar to the Dead Rising series. I mean come on, you can mega cannon zombies...that's amazing.

I played through Silent Hill after Parasite Eve when I was a youngin and skipped the 2nd one. I still have the third. The adventures of how much I hate the subway and how that game mostly made no sense and relied heavily on your ability to know what the heck is going on still makes me cringe a bit, but here it is in all its glory.

I love Silent Hill 2. I think it's the best SH sequel ever made. The game was true to the Silent Hill formula and it was as scary as the first one too (if not scarier)... The story was of course superb. It kept the players guessing all throughout. And the enemies? Boy were they sinister. The Pyramid Head gave me the creeps. I had nightmares!

Silent Hill 3 was hilarious for how they progress the story because it assumes you already understand Silent Hill and I think that was a huge flaw with the game because even people who are use to Silent Hill are kind of like "Eh?"

Example: I"m chilling in the mall and then holy cow the Mall has been ...silent'd okay well I beat the mall and some guy is there ...okay well I'm going to the subway...its not weird that no one is in the subway and definitely not weird to explore other world subway to get to otherworld construction building and mannequin shop and once your done... well Harry's dead so I guess we'll go to Silent Hill?

Yikes.

My favourite Silent Hill sequel? It has to be the second game. From it's launch through to last year, it remained my overall top/favourite game of all time. A real masterpiece in gaming that in my opinion was ahead of it’s time. (Only since the release of 'The Last Of Us', over a decade later, did it get knocked off pole position – a real testament).

I enjoyed pretty much every aspect about it. The balance between outright horror and story was near enough perfect. There were many moments in that game which I genuinely feared progressing forwards. The graphics were up there with the best of it's time and to this day I think some of the cutscenes wouldn't look far out of place in a new release. Then we had the music tracks and the background sounds. Again, just about a perfect fit. Team Silent have nothing but respect from me.

If I could only play five games for the rest of my life, Silent Hill 2 would certainly be there… Not many games out there get as much enthusiasm or praise from me as this did and still does.

The third game was also decent although it took me a while to adjust to having Heather as the lead character and I think 'The Room' (4th game) was generally underrated. No, it was a slightly different concept to what fans of the series were used to, but there were some seriously disturbing and horrific moments in it the more you progressed – some of the best in the series actually. Those hovering ghost creatures (forgot what they were actually called) did give me genuine goosebumps.

Silent Hill 2 was the best sequel among all the other sequels. In my opinion, it is also the second best Silent Hill game after the first one. It was genuinely scary and is a lot better than Silent Hill 3. Then there is also Silent Hill 4 The Room, again a very good sequel better than Silent Hill 3 for me. It was pretty darn scary towards the end when the horror starts to manifest inside the apartment.
