"Sony handing out devkits like candy"

So with the recent announcement that the Xbox One will support independent publishers by allowing self publishing , Sony has now retaliated by actually handing out the devkits to the indie developers that are interested in developing for the PS4. It looks like odds have evened out and we might see some really good indie titles come to the PS4. What are your thoughts on this?

I always like to see indie developers getting into the console scene, since they sometimes bring fresh content to the table with a bit of novelty compared to some big names that tend to dread leaning away from the style they are comfortable with. I have been saying that every time one of the two does something, the other is bound to copy it in an attempt to compete, just in case it turns out to reel in more sales. Business is business. If something seems like it might take away from their slice of the consumer pie, then they are bound to change the playing field and even things out. This is something that has been going back and forth between S & M for a while now. I would sure love to see an indie game on top lists instead of the usuals that make it out on top merely because they already have a fan base to back it up.

Indie is good but they are putting too much focus into it. We have to remember that 90% of indie games aren't worth playing.
