Soul Edge

Does anyone else remember this game? It started out as an arcade only game but was later ported to the PS1. It's been a very long time, but still to this day, Soul Edge is one of my favorite fighters. I know the graphics weren't anything special but the gameplay was great. Also I liked how the characters each had their own fighting special and weapon to battle with. All the games since have been under the title Soul Caliber, but it all started with Soul Edge.

I haven't played it, myself, but I can appreciate it for starting the Soul Calibur series. I think they still need to work on it in general because of the absurd difficulty shifts in gameplay, but they're still some of my favorite fighting games. I'm not really a fan of fighters nowadays, so that's saying quite a bit about the series.

Yup I played Soul Edge and I loved every bit of it. It was far better than Tekken 1 or 2 in my opinion. It also seemed to be a perfect port of the arcade hit. It's also one of the games that strengthened my love for fighting games. I'm glad that the succeeding versions of the game were even a lot better. Soul Calibur for the Dreamcast is actually my favorite of them all.

I really like the storyline of the Soul Calibur games, even if they're kind of all over the place. I'm generally not a huge fan of fighting games but I've always been fond of the series. I suppose it had to start somewhere; I'm just sorry I never got to play the original game before all the sequels came out. I think the first one I played in the series was Soul Calibur II for the Gamecube with Link (who was surprisingly good).

Lol. I have always thought that the storyline of Soul Edge, Soul Blade and Soul Calibur were cheesy. I find the dialogue of the characters to be extremely laughable. The disembodied voice that speaks before each bout also adds to the cheesiness. But all in all, it's just plain fun.

This is the very very first PS Game I have played. I got so addicted to this I mastered beating up the AI. I was able to beat Soul Edge (the burning Cervantes) in Ultra Hard mode with perfect health. I've rarely played with other players, there was not much during those time. Unlike now if you look for a Tekken opponent there would be many.

I remember playing the story mode. I forget what it's called, but it's different from the one with Stage 1 to Stage 10. I'm talking about the one where you acquire new weapons, and each stage has requirements. For example, you can only damage the opponent using aerial attacks. Now that mode is very challenging.

I have not played any Soul Calibur game, I thought it was silly they added Zelda and what not, I was thinking, this should be a joke. But I never really knew what's up with that. It makes me feel like Soul Calibur became some sort of a MUGEN now.
