SpongeBob SquarePants: Plankton's Robotic Revenge

Hey guys, I was thinking of getting SpongeBob SquarePants: Plankton's Robotic Revenge for my 6 year old niece this coming December but I changed my mind after reading the review of IGN: http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/11/01/spongebob-squarepants-planktons-robotic-revenge-review

I thought that this game would be great fun for kids. Turns out, they just tried to use the SpongeBob name to generate sales. Why the hell do developers keep on doing this? Why do they just get some famous franchise and make a crappy game out of it?

Spongebob games and games related will forever be cheesy to me. I can never get into a game that is based off of a television series, or cartoon. I think it is because of my maturity, because I assure you I use to play games like those when I was younger, and they were actually fun. It just dawns on you how stuff can just not even entertain you anymore, such as a spongebob game.

I had the same experience with Family Guy's PS3 game, but my nephew seemed to love it. I think these games sell because kids don't care as much, they just like being able to use the characters. I might have thought the same back in the day, but I'm not entirely sure.

Well if SpongeBob is in the game, then what is wrong with using the name. Just because the game sucks doesn't mean they can't use the name. I used to like SpongeBob a lot as a teenager. The show seemed almost trippy at times so I wouldn't mind playing the game. I am pretty sure it'll suck but hey most games based on movies or TV shows suck anyways.

Unfortunately it's really common for company's too use already established and popular names to generate sales, without the product having any kind of quality whatsoever.
And by the review this game sounds really bad, try to choose another one for your niece.
