Tales of Vesperia

I had this game for the Xbox and have been craving playing it as of late. The PS version has an additional character and maybe some extra content. I'm not sure. I'm wondering if anyone else has played Tales of Vesperia to let me know whether or not I should go put money into getting the PS 3 version or just dig up my Xbox version somewhere in my boxes.

I will say that this game is tons of fun. There's a lot of replay value in it because of all the side quests and little extra personal stories in the game for its characters. You can do a story run and then have a play through where you work on completion activities. That's usually how I handle my RPGs and JRPGs.

It's certainly worth re-playing, but I don't think the PS3 version was released outside of Japan. I mean, if you speak Japanese and want to pay 5x more for it, knock yourself out; but I think you're better off playing the 360 version for the time being. Tales of Xillia comes out next month, as well, so that may be worth looking into. I'd like to get it, but I don't really want to pay full price for it. The Tales games take notoriously long to drop in price, though, so hopefully that won't be the case.

I did not realize there was a new Tales game coming out! That just excited me a lot. I'm going to have to go hustle up some money or wait for a price drop as well. I may just wait until it gets colder, I won't want to keep up with my yard or running if I'm inside playing Tales, because I usually can't escape those sessions without spending a couple of hours in them. I think that when I played Vesperia I would do so in 2 - 3 hour chunks of time, oh it was grand!

Yeah I heard about this game and everyone says it's pretty great. The problem is that the PS3 version was never released outside of Japan. It's great that the PS3 is region free but since I'm not too well versed in the Japanese language, I decided to pass on the game.

Heard the game was very good, but never got the chance to pick it up. Do you have to play other Tales games to enjoy this one? I never played this kind of game before.

That sucks, i never looked up to see if it was being released for NA or not. I wished it were though, there was an extra character and extra side quests. That's what makes a RPG great. Thanks for the info.

Maybe I'll make the Noob of the community, but what is the best Tales Of?

I want to start playing, but I do not know the best games?
I like RPGs this world you can find there. it's been that I have not touched this type of games.

The Tales games are all like spiritual successors to one another, but you start pretty much anywhere. I've only played four of them (I think), but I've become pretty familiar with the series as a whole. There are a lot of similarities between different games while the main game is different, much like the Final Fantasy series.

Tales of Vesperia was the 10th Anniversary game for the franchise (so far it has 14 main games, though around half were not released in America, and a few spinoffs). Vesperia is one the best of the franchise, arguably the best for some, so it is certainly worthy of playing and replaying. Since that game we have had "Tales of Graces f" come out, and "Tales of Xillia" is on the horizon. They are all episodic so you don't have to play any of them in any particular order. All games usually have cameos and references to characters or items from other games, as a fun nod, so if you play them in order of release, you can catch those.

There is no definitive best, but most people agree Tales of Destiny, Tales of Symphonia, and Tales of Vesperia can all jockey for that title.

I'm excited for Xillia too, but I'm going to wait for a price drop. Tales games, despite being awesome, usually fly under the radar. I never see them advertised anywhere, and if it weren't for my own personal research, I wouldn't even know about Tales of Xillia. I'm sure it will be great, though.

Vesperia is really interesting to me because it took such a dark tone over other games. There aren't a lot of good things happening in the world when your in the Tales universe. There are places being destroyed, characters constantly dealing with inward fights and relationships building and breaking left and right. Vesperia was so interesting how they took your main guy and made him so realistic.

There are times in games (much like movies) where I'll be playing and think "You know if I were that guy I'd probably kill him." then Vesperia is like "Yea... I'm going to murder you, no seriously murder you... and its done later."

The "Tales of" series is one of those things that i want to get in so much, but most of the best games in the series are Japan only, which really kills it off. And then you have to have all the different consoles, and some games came out on North America but not on Europe, so you will have to import...

Well, even if i don't much about the series, i will definitely get Tales of Xillia by the end of the year, game looks fun as hell!
