Uploading my photo library to ps4 (???)

So, scrolling around through the interface I don't see a photo/picture folder like we had on the ps3. I seem tv/video and music but nothing about photo. So I figured I would just pop in one of my burned DVDs that have my pics on them, and the ps4 says it's an unsupported disc. Tried a different DVD with pics on it and same thing. So then i popped in my usb flash drive with photos on it and the ps4 doesn't appear to be recognizing it (or at least i can't figure out how to access it). All of these DVDs and my USB Flash Drive work perfectly fine on my ps3.
And yes, I have downloaded the newest firmware.
Am I missing something here or what?

Create a folder called PS4 on your usb. Then create a folder called PHOTOS in that folder. After that, upload all your photos to that folder and try again. It should recognize the folder. I'm doing this off my phone so ill confirm it as soon as I get home.

Nope, didn't work. I did what you said on my flash drive....ps4 folder with photo folder inside. I plug it into the ps4 and my flash drive lights up but i get no notification and don't see anywhere to access it. I really don't understand why the exact same burnt dvds that i can load onto my ps3 are "unsupported" on the ps4 either. Hopefully this is something they fix with the upcoming firmware updates.

Also, is it just me or does it seem like there should be a folder on the ps4 for pics, just like on ps3?

I like to use my own photos for the ps4 home screen background, and I don't see anywhere to change backgrounds or do anything. I'm kinda feeling like the interface seems stripped down compared to the ps3. I dunno, maybe i'm just missing some of this stuff and I need to look around more.

It seems as though we're the only folks looking for a solution to this problem. I didn't even THINK that the PS4 would not enable us to upload photos in order to view them on the TV. (Which is a major convenience when guests are over)

I'm hoping Sony will address this issue in future updates, and allow us this simple pleasure.

Please let me know if anyone finds a workaround to this problem.

I know...I figured the ps4 would at least have most of the features of the ps3...especially the very basic and universally desired things....like photo viewing / uploading.

This is a major letdown if they don't address this with an update sometime soon. Something else that really upsets me is that (as of right now) the ps4 doesn't support bluray3D. The PS3 had this ability years go, and it's a simple software thing.

With no photos, and no 3d, i'm really really glad i didn't make a last minute decision to trade in the ps3 to save myself some $$ on the ps4.

But I'm sorry.......this is something Sony simply has to address. It's just ridiculous I can't pop in a flash drive OR a burned dvd to load and view freaking JPEGS.

Give me a min Teddy i'll solve it right now and post the solution

Thanks man...but i'm not sure if it is fixable. Maybe it is, but I mean they don't even have a photos folder on XMB. I have seen a few other posts here and there complaining about not being able to upload photos, so I dunno. But I will definitely check back here later...let me know what you find. We're getting ready to head out and do some Christmas shopping. Oh joy.

I don't think their is a way either, Sony has Apps now for our music and video libraries. Which we have to use inorder to store. It doesn't look like their is one to transer or upload photos to. I'm shocked they didn't have it at launch but i'm sure as the app store expands we will get one of these.

Thanks for checking it out bro. When you say app store are you talking about the psn store? I'm envisioning them just doing a system update that has a photo folder / program similar to how it is on the ps3. I just hope it comes soon...my wife and I take tons of pics and love looking at them through the ps. Hopefully some of the more basic stuff will come soon. It would be nice if I can just pop in a DVD+R and copy it over.

Any thoughts on the Bluray3D playback support? Think they will enable that in the future? I would hope so.

No worries, I'm sure its just an update just like it was for the ps3 getting 3d support. For the apps, i mean like how the built in music unlimited now handles all of your music and such. Their isn't one for photos as far i can see. I'm sure their priority was to get this thing launched as soon as possible and start adding additional functions to through firmware updates as time goes on. At least i hope.

I have found that with the PlayStation app. You can send pics through messages to friends from your phone. Then on your ps4 you can click on the pic in the message, hit your share button on controller. Save it as snap shot. Not the perfect solution but it works. Don't give up on psn yet. Plenty of updates to come
