Vita TV

When you compare this to devices that do almost nothing but get your TV online (Roku box, Apple TV etc..) this seems like an amazing product for a very good price.. There will be a market for it.

I'd totally get one so I could play Dissidia on my Big LCD TV.

Well, it was recently announced for the west as Playstation TV, if you didn't hear about it! Pretty great.

Slightly off topic, though, but I really hope Square-Enix does more with Dissidia. Duodecim was such an improvement over the first, imagine how amazing a third entry would be!

vita tv... now thats something I'd spend some money on that... great innovation from Sony right there...

I'm not sure about the regional compatibility - for the Vita itself you're able to change the region (though you can't go back and forth, you would need to reformat the memory card and/or have multiple, from what I've heard). I would think the Vita TV would be the same, but maybe not since it's not available worldwide, while the Vita is.

Personally, I don't see the point of the Vita TV. It cannot support any game that uses Vita-specific features, which means the Vita's most unique games (eg. Gravity Rush, Tearaway). I believe there's a game compatibility list somewhere (though it may be in Japanese), so I would personally go through the list and make sure there are enough compatible games you'd want to play (which is really my advice to buying any platform).

The other thing to keep in mind is that it will likely come to the US eventually, though it may not be until the end of the year. My guess is they may wait until after the Vita Slim launches here as to minimize cannibalism.

I own an actual Vita and it's great, but I understand that handhelds aren't for everyone.

Are you talking about the touch screen? You mean to say you cannot use the touchpad on the controller in its place? I do not own a Vita and am curious if some games force you to use touchscreen or can you turn it off? If you can turn it off I imagine the games would then work as such on Vita TV.
