What if Sony and Nintendo were still partners?

During the SNES days, I think Sony and Nintendo were still partners. I think Sony even designed a new system that would succeed the SNES. However, Nintendo was not yet ready to move to a CD based system and they eventually split up. If the two gaming companies did not go their separate ways, do you think that they would have achieved even greater heights?

The partnership between Sony and Nintendo is very much long gone and forgetting. Both companies have well established brands with their own consoles and full franchises. I don't really think that there is any chance of the two merging together for any major project. As for what they could have achieved, we will never know. I think what made both of the companies great is that they both followed their own routes, made the their own mistakes and learned from them. That way their brands became very unique.

It is definitely hard to imagine Sony and Nintendo still being partners, because as Medza said it was so long ago. Some might think that it would mean that Sony and Nintendo exclusives would end up being released on the same console but who knows if that would have happened. I guess in the end that it's a great thing that Nintendo didn't want to use the CD format as it spurred Sony to go ahead and make their own console.
