This is probably a dumb question but what does the Vita offer over the Wii or PS3? It's got a great name but is it just another money-maker, something new to put out to get people to buy it? For some reason I keep thinking Beta players. (Remember those-around the time of VCRs?)
I am not sure what the differences between a Vita, and the other consoles, are. What are the betas, you were talking about? I am not sure, if I remember betas.
I've read a lot of complaints from people about the Wii not having enough games. However, I think it's more a matter of portable games since that seems to be what most people want these days. Oh, and I remember the beta versus VHS era. As I remember, the beta was considered superior to the VHS, but the marketing didn't connect for some reason. I think it's a lot like the early days of PCs and Macs. The best product isn't always the one that sells the best.
Beta tapes were also way more expensive than VHS tapes! Same with Beta tape players. The quality may have been better, but the masses couldn't afford to support it, so it died.
Do you think we'll run into that eventually with Blu-Ray? That's another thing I've let pass me by. I don't remember Beta being that much more expensive but I was pretty young.
I'd forgotten about the price difference. Yeah, it's no wonder beta died. Sony should have waited a few years. And I'm the same way about Blu-Ray, MsKong. It never seemed worth the upgrade to me.
Well, besides the portability aspect, the PlayStation Vita is lightweight and also has touchscreens on both the front and the back. In my opinion, it gives an overall better gaming experience than the Wii.
