Which game is going to be the scariest this year?

Plenty of horror games coming out or had already come out this year. So in your opinion, which one do you think it's going to be the scariest. For me, I'm thinking that The Evil Within is going to be freaking scary. The videos I've seen all showed pretty disturbing things like that thing that emerges from a pile of blood. I thought Outlast takes the cake at first but turned out, it was too boring for me.

Actually Last of Us has some really tense moments too but I don't if the game can be considered as horror.

I look forward the most to The Evil Within. I will also check out Asylum, simply because I like psycho thrillers. I don't imagine it to be too scary though. White Night seems pretty interesting as well.

P.T. (or whatever that game is called really) I think will be great. I'm also looking forward to The Evil Within. The Last of Us? Well, I don't think that counts as a horror game really, maybe suspense but not really horror.

There have been leaked concept art for a new Resident Evil, which I'm keeping an eye out for, but not especially excited because of the horrible Resident Evil 5 and 6. Evil Within really has a Silent Hill tone, with a little bit of Outlast, which are two of my favorite horror games.

There are no major horror game releasing this year except for the Alien game by Sega. I am not even sure if this is going to be any good at all.

Evil Within looks quite promising, not interested in that? Also Resident Evil remake is reportedly coming out this year end too, in Japan at least. Alien Isolation is in the vibe of Outlast so I'm not liking it.

Only two come to mind if you want my opinion:

The 'P.T' teaser was genuinely frightening. It creates an atmosphere which I hugely enjoy in horror games. That feeling of utter dread and tension of what could happen, with equally concerning sounds/noises. A tasteful amount of jumpscares too. Even though it's only technically a demo of what's coming up for the future of Silent Hill – this has to be very high up in my own running. I'm really looking forward to future developments of this.

The only other clear contender for me has to be both Outlast and it's superb 'Whistleblower' follow-on. This is the game that Resident Evil 6 could and should have been (replace the inmates with zombies and it's almost there). It’s a game that given me two of the largest jumpscares that I've had in years – and I consider myself to be quite a veteran on the horror scene. It's clear to me the developers put a lot of thought into this and I can only take my hat off to them as their efforts. Some of the cut scenes and things you come across really makes you cringe to the point you want to start curling up in a ball. These are games that I highly recommend you play or at least watch on YouTube if you haven't done so already.

The remaster of the original Resident Evil will be very good to see but it's not exactly a 'new' game, so I can't really count that whether we see it this year or next. There's no denying that this is what Resident Evil was and still should be about – survival horror and not just another watered down FPS (to go with the endless wave of other FPS titles) that it's become… Given sensible pricing (and a PS4 when the time comes of course), I will certainly get this.

The Last Of Us is a slightly different kind of game, but still has some tense moments. I class it as more of an adventure than an outright horror but I certainly see how it could be described as that. I certainly won’t rubbish the game – it's a true masterpiece and one of only a few games that I’ve ever rated in around 25 years of gaming as a true 10/10.

Whichever game is associated with PT--they might end up changing the name, or what have you later on--will be the scariest game of whatever year it is released. But of 2014, I think Evil Within, although perhaps not as scary as we all want it to be, will still be frightening.

I think The Evil Within has the most potential to be the scariest this year. It's done by the creator of Resident Evil, so the man knows what he's doing as far as horror games go. Resident Evil 4 is one of my favorite games and is the last Resident Evil he worked on. After that he left and that franchise went downhill, so that should tell you something. I'm really excited for that game, and I hope it lives up to my expectations.
