Will Capcom ever release a remake of Rival Schools?

Rival Schools was my favorite Capcom fighting game on the original PlayStation. Do you guys remember this game? It was a 3D tag team fighter that had vibrant graphics, lots of characters and great fighting mechanics. However, this series never seemed to be able to make the jump to the next generation. They did not make a game for the PS2 or the PS3. Do you think that Capcom would already release a new Rival Schools game for the PS4?

It was my first game that came with two disks, it left me blown away!
Like, two disks... for the price of one game!
And all that content...

Too bad that the sequel wasn't received that well on the Dreamcast, because i really liked the series! They could at least make an HD port of it!

The Dreamcast received a sequel to this game??? Dang! I missed it! No wonder it wasn't received that well. Lol. Maybe Capcom promote the game correctly. Maybe they thought that the Dreamcast was doomed anyway so there was no point in promoting it. I think that it's about time to revive the series and the PS4 is the perfect console for it to be reborn.

I surely hope they do, but I highly doubt it. They're a lot more focused on RPGs and FPSs rather than fighting games, only the top titles seem to have been produced for the PS3 and a lot of less popular but still very fun titles were just forgotten about. If it becomes as "easy" to make games again as they apparently were with the PS2, then I'd be a lot more optimistic, but seeing how things are going, it just makes me sad to see my favorite titles like this one go obsolete.

Rival Schools! Brings back memories! I like playing it on arcades than in the PS.

I remember back in high school after class where I go straight down to the mall with some friends and challenge other players there. Which they are also from other schools thus making the game more realistic for us.

It's probably never going to happen. There's an article which states that Capcom will not release more because of IP licensing issues. This was about 4 years ago, but I still highly doubt that they will actually release another one.

"I'm sorry as it's one of the ones I really wanted to see be put back up. So if you still have that PS1 Rival Schools disc in your collection, it's unfortunately going to be the only way that gets played for the foreseeable future."
