It sounds ideal, but I reckon the fun would be taking out of playing games after a while when all you're doing is looking for bugs and glitches. You would probably get so used to doing that as a job that you would come home and play a different game and still be looking for bugs due to force of habit.
100% agree.

No, I couldn't be a game tester. It sounds great in theory and I think the general view is that you play games like you do at home and get paid for it. In reality you would have no control over the type of game you would test. The testing itself isn't the same as "playing" and you would have to make detailed reports etc

I love Pro Evolution and if I play for more than 30 minutes on the highest difficulty, I want to smash to controller through the TV and grind my console into little pieces.

I hope I have been informative.

I lived in Seattle for a short while and had the opportunity to interview for a video game tester position. I ended up turning it down because it was on an "as needed" basis, paid only $10 per hour and did not provide any benefits. I don't think it is worth your time. I mean, don't we all spend enough time on screens between video games and the Internet as it is? Why add even more screen time to your life? I think it would sour your feelings toward playing video games.

I can see how all that time testing games could ruin just playing games for fun. To be honest I don't think testing would be something I am interested in.

I would like to be a game tester because I would get to play the game before anyone else. I would do this type if job for a while because I wouldn't want to get burned out on games.

I don't think I'd enjoy being a game tester, I've heard too many stories on how it's just doing the same areas and activities over and over in order to see if I can "break" the game; I think that would limit my ability to enjoy my gaming time.
A game reviewer on the other hand, sounds like the perfect job, just playing games and giving your opinion when you're through sounds like an amazing occupation, that's basically what I already do but I would get paid at the end of the month :)

I would love to be a game tester as that way I will be able to play so many more games that I want to play. Also you get to play games that aren't even released for the public sometimes. But I guess the pay isn't that good though. If the pay was good I would definitely be a tester but as it is not then I won't be one. A lot of bills need to be paid so I need a good job.

I thought that I had talked about this a bit before, but I couldn't find it. Games testing is usually under paid and under appreciated and it comes close to ruining your hobby. Those that I know who do this often had to start doing games that they didn't enjoy and there's a lot of pressure for their tests to yield results outside of "That troll in level 2 clips the wall." Bless the testers but its a tough path to walk.

Nope. It looks like the best thing out there, but will only suck the life out of you. Trust me, i was there once. They basically give you a sheet with things you must do, and let me tell you that those things are very, very specific and there is a bunch of them. And that is just the first step. It's really not fun!
