Deep Silver says that Metro franchise will not be dumbed down

Deep Silver clarified their previous comment they made on the franchise being available to broader audience. The conceded that they are looking forward to releasing Metro games on as many platforms as possible.

“Some media and fans have interpreted this to mean that Deep Silver will somehow seek to dilute Metro’s core gameplay values, ‘dumbing down’ the game in a bid to woo a wider, more ‘casual’ audience. We understand the concern, and we would like to reassure the Metro fanbase that Deep Silver has absolutely no intention of compromising Metro’s unique DNA,” he wrote.

“We completely understand that it is the passion and evangelism of our fans that allowed Metro to grow from a cult hit to genuine, bonafide hit. Whatever direction a new Metro game takes (and we are still assembling the drawing boards), it will build on the bleak, post apocalyptic pillars of atmosphere, immersion, challenge and depth that sets this franchise apart from the crowd.”

Hmm, well at least they acknowledge their fanbase - still it's kind of irritating how quickly folks go all indie about things: "Oh, more people are playing it so it must suck". If you really love a game, you'd think you'd want more people to experience and enjoy it.

No. The problem is that Deep Silver sucks and Deep Silver said they wanted to bring Metro a "wider gamer audience". What that usually means nowaday is "let's make it imitate Call of Duty", so of course fans get wary when they hear such statements.
