PS3 - Was it worth it?

With the PS4 coming and the PS3 coming to an end, do you think it was worth it?
What is your favorite game on the system?
Had some fun experiences while playing online?
Will it be a keeper so you can enjoy it's games for years to come?

I think it was totally worth it. Discovered a few exclusives that have just blown me away (Uncharted, God of War, Motorstorm)

My favourite game for the PS3 would most likely be a tie between Killzone 3 and Motorstorm: Apocalypse.

As for my experiences online, it may just be me but I think the PS community is much better then Xbox. Not to say Xbox doesn't have it's good share of online players, but comparing the two I find the PS community nicer and more helpful.

I'll definitely be keeping my PS3, especially since the PS4 won't be backwards compatible.

When the Playstation 3 first came out, I wouldn't say it was worth it in the slightest, however, with price drops and time I now believe it was worth it. However, you said the PS3 is coming to an end. Why do you say that? It took YEARS after the PS3 came out for the PS2 to finally stop being produced, so I don't see the PS3 losing production any time soon. If the PS4 is like the PS3 when it first launched, not a lot of people are going to bother buying it. Expensive, and prone to failure within the first generation will probably see a very slow rise in sales for at least a year or two.

I think like HydraForce mentions, the PS3 was not worth the money when it first came out. However, as it dropped in price like all consoles eventually do, the price range became much more suitable and so I went ahead and bought one about a year after the release date. In terms of enjoyment, I think it has been totally worth it. There has been some great titles out and I still play most of the games that I bought when I first got the console. I've actually had two PlayStation 3's though. What happened with the first one is, it stopped reading games and the warranty had expired. Stupidly, I decided to take off the front cover and dive in there myself. I got to the Blu-Ray drive and took that apart also - really bad idea. There is a super thin cable in there and I managed to snap it :( basically it was game over for that machine, and I went ahead and accidentally snapped a second wire too!! Bad times indeed.

I've actually had a good run with the PS3. I've been having fun on it since the day I got it, I've been quite faithful to the console.
There were many good games, and I thought it was definitely worth it. PS4 sucks, imho.

xHysteria.

For me, the answer is yes! PS3 was and still is the best gaming console, offering online gameplay for free, blu-ray player and many more. Sony had some problems with managing the brand, being hacked, playstation home and a few more, but it's still a better console, compared to the xbox 360. Plus, we have to remember the awesome exclusive games playstation launched! The Killzone series is one of the best FPS series I played. Uncharted, God Of War and Infamous, Heavy Rain ... amazing games that always impress.

Oh man I totally forgot about Heavy Rain. Fantastic game!

At first, I was pretty skeptical about PS3. It's way too expensive and there are only a handful of games I thought I'd enjoy. But when compared with PS2 and with Playstation Network being offered as totally free, it became more appealing. The blu-ray function is one of its most powerful assets.

The PS3 was really worth it. The only thing that kinda was it's undoing was the online play. It was just horrid it some instances.

My brother owns a PS3, but I don't feel like playing it anymore. I still prefer the PS2 for my console games. The games may be old, but they're better for purposes of reminiscing memories and game play. And because this console didn't have the lasting legacy of the PS2, I don't think I'll get the PS4.

Played on the original ps1 and ps2, was satisfied so I got a ps3.
The ps3 was very worth it. Every game I played on it was great. Hopefully, the ps4 is going to be good.

Of course it was worth it.
The current generation of consoles are responsible for bringing online multiplayer FPS to the armchair soldiers, you have to remember the PS2's FPS weren't great(medal of honour etc)and had no online version. the PC had Call of Duty,Unreal tournament etc and was online,The PS3 has bridged that gap.

Personally, because of my limited time and work. Its not yet worth it!!! lol!

I have both 360 and ps3 and seem to switch consoles when playing but I also got hooked up to LOL on PC.

Then my work, it just limits my time to enjoy myself. I guess if PS4 comes out I wont rush in.

I'd say I was mildly satisfied with it, so yes it is still very much worth it. I guess I just have too high of expectations from Sony after having seen what they were capable of with the PS2, unfortunately I was a bit disappointed with this one since it really never carried on with the titles that I liked on the PS1 & 2 which were usually lesser known ones. All in all, it's still a very entertaining console and I enjoy what little amount of games I actually find entertaining on it, I just wish there was more.

Was it worth it? Let me see... I've had a lot of fond memories playing God of War 3, Uncharted 1 and 2, Metal Gear Solid 4, Final Fantasy XIII, Killzone 3, Resistance and countless other games. I'm still enjoying games with high replay value like Tekken 6, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Mortal Kombat, and Little Big Planet.

I've had a lot of fun with my friends and family members with the PS3. It lifted up my spirits when I was down. It provided me with a nice distraction when I needed to clear my head. So, was it worth it? Of course it was.

It was completely worth it, had hours, scratch that days of fun. Found new titles, met new people. It was a great 6 or so years.

Im in the middle. I think it was worth it because the graphics are way better, but at the same time i feel like it was not worth it at all because the entertainment was exactly the same a the PS one and 2. Nothing really changed. A good game is a good game and all the playstations have been good to me.
