History of Grand Theft Auto

Really nice video. I started playing GTA games when I was a kid. My first game was GTA Vice City and played all the game since then.

Wow it has evoled throughout the years. I love playing san andreas and use the flying car cheat. That is very fun. Just fly away across the ocean little car. Can't wait for my game to come tomorrow.

Makes me remember the first time i played Grand Theft Auto 3. It was like i was in the future, playing that huge open-ended world where i could do "anything" i wanted. So much freedom, so much to explore! Those were the days....

Huh, nice video. Brings me back to the good old days, :) I wish I could go back to when I'd never played any of the games. Oh man, the imagination and wonder...

It's always fun to look over something like this and realize just how much has actually changed. Stories have grown and split and become something amazing - the first GTAs were very flat in nature (and rather sucky), but then GTA 3 while not a tour de force actually had characters you could care about and a story that was fairly awesome while making sense. Vice City, San Andreas, and GTA IV just improved on that. Then there was the abilities gained like learning how to swim, gaining the ability to customize one's character, and all the rest. Oh and there was improvement of graphics.

The metal fan rocking his head was really distracting from the OP's avatar. It's amazing to see how much GTA has evolved. Not only just the graphics, but the game itself. It's crazy to think that this game costed $250 million to develop. It's a well-done game.

Gosh, I remember going to KB toys in the local mall to buy the first grand theft auto. When I got home and opened up the box there was no disc inside! I brought it back to the store and they didn't believe me. So I threatened to take them to small claims court if they didn't provide me with a disc. They wouldn't give in so I met the manager at small claims court and he gave in once he saw that I actually showed up to have the matter heard before a judge, lol. I got tha disc in the end.

Great video. I remember when I first played Grand Theft Auto 3, it completely blew me away with its amazing graphics (for the time), huge open world that you can explore, cars of all kinds, speedboats, a tank and even a plane which I couldn't control properly and never managed to get more than 10 seconds of fly-time. It changed the gaming industry forever because after GTA3, video games were no longer only for kids, they were for adults as well. It was all me and friends could talk about for months after its release because of how advanced it was.

Cool video, thanks for sharing! I'd like to add a related video, though, this one tackles the history of Rockstar instead of just GTA and I found it pretty interesting. Hope you guys enjoy it as much as I did.

This is the first time I saw this! Wow, GTA has been a huge part of my life since PS2 and if I were a huge softy I would cry at the sight of this video :P lol

Awesome video. GTA IV might be my favourite video game of all time. My top five video games of all time contains three GTA's lol (IV, V, SA) so it was really awesome to see this video and see how this awesome game series started.
Thanks for sharing!
