Ever trade your games?

Does anyone ever trade in their games? I find it to be such a waste of money so I don't do it! I don't see how a $60 game is somehow only worth like $25. You can sell them on Ebay or Craig's List for so much more money!

I agree, even if you trade them a few weeks later when they would be the most valuable I still dont cause you still dont get enough.
I usually just ebay mine if I dont want them anymore.

Yes, I do trade in my games that I have completed and wish no longer to play them in the future. I have never used ebay or any other online shopping site to sell my games. Till now, I have only sold games to my friends and other known ones. I sold each of mine games for around 25 to 30 dollars.

Sure, and really there is a promotion going on right now at GameStop that I should probably take advantage of - extra trade in value isn't much to laugh at to be honest.

Yeah I trade. Even though I know it's a bit of a rip-off, but hey, at JB Hi Fi if you trade your games in you can credit for ANYTHING in the store such as Blu-rays. So that's where I do my trade ins.

I never trade in my games. I have almost all of them that I've ever bought since the Atari/NES days. I imagine that my collection is worth quite the pretty penny. I think that it is foolish to trade in the games to a store like gamestop because you'll get like 30-50% of what you could get by selling them online. I don't want to go to the trouble of shipping the games out so I don't even bother selling them at all.

There is one advantage in keeping them all.Who knows, you may have some rare games that are worth..or will be worth..quite a bit some day.
On the hand you also prob have heaps that are worth a dollar or 2.

In order to get the most value from your game you have to trade it early. It's still kinda new at that point and on gamestops list of games you high value for.

A few weeks back, I traded in Battlefield: Bad Company 2 to JB - got $1.

I trade in games all the time. When the PS3 first came out I traded old ps2 games that I'd gotten at yard sales and other places for store credit. I want to say it was at Gamestop. I got my PS3 for roughly $70 of my own money by trading in a ton of crap games and movies. I wish the ones around here still sold movies. Does anyone know if any Gamestop anywhere still does?

Curious enough, the only game i got "rid off" was Bad Company 2 (i gave it to him when he got his PS3 because i already knew i wasn't going to play it anymore).

No we never trade our games because my husband loves to hog his games however,I got an in game mount that is sold for 15 dollars from a friend in exchange ,he wanted to play in my diablo3 beta because I got the friend and family invite.

I did a few times, but only when I first asked around, and no one was interested in buying them (even at really cheap prices). One time, I traded in a couple games, and got $40 off of Uncharted 2 (it had just come out). That was cool because both games I traded in weren't games I wanted to keep anyway. I don't even remember what they were.

And you accepted that? Should of ebayed it,even taking into account post, package & ebay/paypal fee, you would have been way better off.
Next time you wanna get rid of anymore games let me know first..Ill have them for $1 each and make a bit of profit on them :p

I have seldom traded games. Nope, I can't remember the last time I did that. But at the same time, I buy only a handful of games.

I feel as if ive replied to a thread like this before but ill say it again. I think trading in games is a real rip off and youd be better off trying to sell them who actually know that the game has value (If its a fun classic that they liked) Gaming stores just take games dirt cheap and then sell them for a lot more than they bought. Just try to find a friend that may want the game or sell it online because youll never get a good deal from gaming stores.

There's a couple of reasons why I never trade in my games. The most important is the collector's aspect. Even if the games are trash and will invariably be worth nothing, they have a place among with other games as a piece of a library.

The second reason is that the value isn't worth the effort. Game stores will low-ball the price to the point where I'm just not comfortable. If I'm ever in the market to re-sell games, it will be to people who want them at a reasonable and fair price.

JB Hi Fi??? What is that? I've never heard of them? Are they just located in whatever town you live in or all over? We have a place called dimples out here that let's you get anything in the store you want as well but I still don't think it's worth it.

I think it's the Australian equivalent of Best Buy: http://www.jbhifi.com.au/
