Your Thoughts On Sony Xperia Play

I've always wanted to buy this, and I still do. Unfortunately, from the reviews I have come across, I never really found a good reason to buy it, specially since they eventually seem to have just let it died or discontinued it. I don't think they are even making games for it anymore, plus I heard that Sony and Erikson are no longer partners. I'd honestly still love to get one, seeing as it's probably cheap enough now, but I don't think I would be able to find a brand new one anymore, nor would I probably find games to play on it other than modding it myself to play PS 1 games which I have to admit still sounds good to me.

Also, I would like to add that I'm still hoping that they someday revive this project and do it right this time, because I could think of no other type of phone that I would like more than one that turns into a Playstation.

Did you own this or not? Whether your answer is yes or no, I'd still like to hear your opinion on it, and what you think about how everything went down. Your thoughts?

My friend does. I was a lot of skeptical towards it and always said to him that it was better to not waste money on such a product. But man, after trying it out, it works really good for what it tries to do. The analog feels good and the buttons respond very well, and the general performance is great. I recommend you to get it!

It was disappointed how Sony handled it. It should have been greater than what it was. Though, with the limited gameplay and other things. I don't know how they think it would have caught on.

Thanks! Great to hear from someone I know and has first hand experience with it. I'm actually saving up for it now, specially after your review of it. I'm just worried there won't be much games I could play on it when I do get it, and seeing as Sony doesn't seem to support it anymore (?), it makes me worried. I'm still getting it though, even if it's just out of curiosity, at the very least.

I agree, it really should have been a lot better than what it turned out to be. To be fair, and to the best of my knowledge, however, I think it might have a lot more to do with the fact that it wasn't necessarily a Sony product and rather just a licensed one for Erikson, and they might have had a lot more to do with it and its demise than Sony. I think the biggest mistake they both made was not offering the PSP games on it. I think a lot of people would have totally supported it, had it had a bigger library of games that they didn't have to jump through hoops to get with all the modding people had to do just to get a PS1 game on there, all because the current existing library wasn't enough.
