Playstation Failures

I'm a big fan of Sony, Playstation in particular, which had many failures but I think that's understandable. It would be impossible to achieve success 100% of the time, but still, I think they could have gone about some of the decisions they made along the way a little better. So, in light of their new product which looks like it's going to be successful, let's look at and talk about some of their past failures.

The one that sticks out to me the most was the Xperia Play, which technically wasn't their failure at all as much as it was Eriksson's, but it's still Playstation. That, and the PS Go, I think were the biggest disappointments for me, since I really wanted both of these but they fluttered out before I could even buy them.

Other notable entries off the top of my head would be:

UMD's & PS Home

Your thoughts? What were the most notable failures that really stuck out to you personally?

I would have to say Xperia Play. God, when I was a kid, the idea of having a portable gaming console and cellphone on the same device blew my mind! That was my mindset until I read the review about it though. Good thing I was not rich enough to buy it during that time, because if I were, I would've bought it immediately.

Some might say that the PS Vita can be considered as a flop, and I have to partially agree with that. Nonetheless, the Vita is still young so I'll give it some time to develop.

Sony All Stars is arguably a failure. The characters in the Sony universe don't fit as well together as the Nintendo characters in Smash. It was kind of destined to fail because it is impossible to compare to the first party characters of Nintendo.

Pocketstation. I thought it was a PlayStation that I could put on my pocket. It turned out to be a damn memory card which allowed you to play some games that looked like it came out of an Atari console. It could have been called AtariStation for all I care.

I agree, I had the same thoughts as well. I was so excited when I found out about this product, but was terribly disappointed once I saw the reviews. I really wish Sony would take another go at it, I'd still prefer it over having to bring a separate console around.

Playstation is one of the most successful companies on the world. When we talk about xPeria play, they just got a little sentimental !
