Whats the best wireless headset that works on the PS4?

Hey all, did some searching around the forums and cant find anything on it. But I am looking to get a new headset to use with either my PS3/PS4 or my PC.

I'm just getting tired of moving my Astro's from my PC to the TV every time I want to game on either the TV or the computer.
So I am in the market for a new headset to go either on the PS3 & PS4 or to the computer.
I currently have the Astro A50 headset, anyone know of any headset with equal or better sound quality that:

1. Uses optical input (and would prefer a pass through optical output but I can live without it.)
2. Simulates surround sound
3. Is wireless

Would like to hear from people who actually own suggested headsets, not just hearsay.

Ones that I am currently looking at.

Turtle Beach Phantom limited edition CoD Ghosts themed (not sure if there is a plain black model or whatever)
Astro A50's (If I don't find anything worthy to replace my current set)
And the worst case scenario: Sony Pulse Elite (Just a USB dongle, not sure if sound quality is good.)

Any suggestions or advice would be great. ;)

I like the Sony Wireless Stereo headset. I bought mine from Best Buy for like $80.00. It is by far the clearest audio that I have heard come out of a headset. Anything turtle beach makes is usually very good, but I haven't heard too much about the other two. I bought the Sony Headset because at the time it was cheaper than the turtle beach one, I do wish I would of waited a little longer though. I'd say that the turtle beach phantom would be your best bet.

I'm not really interested in a stereo headset. I am looking for something that supports Dolby surround. But thanks for the insight on the Sony ones anyways, I am sure the Pulse elites would have similar sound quality.

Right now I'm not really sure since there is no wireless functionality with the PS4. I don't own a PS4 yet, but I would wait until Sony fixes the issue before buying one. I like the Pulse elites since I use it now, but the Sony headset is really good, cheap, and pretty much guaranteed to work with the PS4 without any major issues.

My Astro A50 headset works great with the PS4. So I know that works, I am just looking for another headset because I use my A50's on my PC.

I also only know and use the Astro A50 headset which as for me works great. I haven't heard of any other great headsets yet and could also admire knowing headsets I can use for my PS4 gaming.

You have one of the best now.
And I agree in that once you use and get used to a true surround gaming headset stereo headsets dont cut it either.Especially for FPS MP gaming where sound direction is very important.
I use a Sharkoon X-Tatic Digital 5.1 surround headset and whenever I go back to my stereo one its like sound isnt quite right.
Its wired (only true 5.1 surround headsets are wired, any other wireless ones are 'virtual surround'). and has 4 speakers in each ear cup.
Independent sound control volume for front, rear, center and subwoofer (and chat ofcourse)

Anyway,as mentioned there is no word on if PS4 will support other wireless headsets yet apart from Sony ones like the Pulse.
So if you want wireless you may have to wait for a fix,if there will be any.

I might just end up getting a second set of the Astro A50's. Maybe the Battlefield 4 edition, I heard they have a better mixamp.

Anyone know if the Steelseries H wireless will work on the PS4 when it comes out? I like the look of it but it is not released yet.
I'll have to keep my eyes open for reviews on it!

Get the pulse elite. I own both, and personally hate the original. It's creaky, and doesn't sound half as good as the elite. Plus, the voice quality is much improved On the elite, so your team hears you much better. The only downside I have found is that the gimmicky bass feature is complete garbage.

i have the pulse, it is supposed to work with an "upcoming" update for bluetooth devices but it can still be plugged into the controller and the headphones can be powered or unpowered.

I just bought the Turtlebeach PX3's today because I had a 25% discount at work today and tried to hook them up to the PS4. They worked but the volume was very low and disconnected frequently. My workaround for this was (in my case I was lucky i still had this lying around after all these years) the Earforce DSS that came with my original Turtlebeach's that I got way back when for the X360. I hooked the wireless reciever how I nomrally would to the PS4 with the exception I had an AUX cable run from the DSS to the receiver so I could pick up game audio and the USB portion was used for the mic. My headset setup is a special case but, since this is a USB headset I'd imagine a simple patch would fix this problem just gotta wait for Sony to get off their butts and fix this so everyone can use their existing headsets.

Yeah,a future firmware update fix is in the works. So you're gonna have to a bit longer.

I wouldn't hold my breath for a firmware update to fix the wireless "issue"
First we were told soon, then firmware 1.5 , now we are upto firmware 1.54 and still nothing, and no official word on it, just romurs.

Next update would 1.53 as latest is only 1.52.

Something to do with bluetooth profiles for adding bluetooth headsets. I think it is possible with an update from what Ive read, but again...how long would this take? And we still cant be 100% sure they will add it as mentioned by Altom above.
But Im sure Ive seen it somewhere that it is on the cards.

The Sony Wireless Stereo Headset is what you should buy. The sound quality is good and the device is durable. If you're like me, you hate losing and might throw your headset out of anger. - I'm working on my temper.
