PlayStation Plus is Now Free for 15 Days on the Japanese PSN, Here’s How to Get it with 148 Games

The Japanese PlayStation Plus is a treasure chest offering games like Shadow of the Colossus HD, White Knight Chronicles 2 and a whopping 123 PlayStation classics, and the best news is that Sony Computer Entertainment Japan and Asia just announced the Plus Autumn Festival, that offers 15 days of free access to every Japanese PSN account.

Apologies if this has already been posted (I've searched) and/or if this is in the wrong section. Additionally, I haven't tried this out myself yet and all the resources are in Japanese, so please pardon me for any fuzzy details but the whole gist is like the title says - FREE GAMES ON JAPANESE PSN (NO CREDIT CARD NEEDED) - including PS3, PS Vita and PS1 games, if I'm not mistaken.

As far as I know, you would only be allowed to play the free games until the free subscription expires, BUT I've seen a handful of comments online suggesting that you can just sign up over and over until the promo stops in February. If any of our members here do try it out, please do leave a comment as to how it went for you and/or if you have any corrections or tips on what I've posted, please let us know as well. Enjoy!

Also worth noting: Europe PSN also currently has a promo:

Free PlayStation Plus for 14 Days Available on European PlayStation Store

I was thinking it would definitely not be 100+ games, but then I saw that apparently the vast majority of these games are PS1 classics anyway... thanks for sharing. I dunno if I will take advantage of this offer, but I might...

That's what I call a promotional offer! Being able to just cherry pick what PSX games you want is great even if you get 15 days. I'm curious to know if you can actually just keep signing up.

It seems North America has been getting all the goodies lately, now it's Japan's turn to be spoiled :) I think everything should be the same for everyone though. I mean, I'm not saying give us 100 free games, I'm saying give Japan and everyone else all the good stuff we get before them.

If it has to do with PS Plus then hell yes. Doesn't seem so though, if it says you can keep subscribing til February then I wonder if you can keep playing them after?

I'd love 100+ free games from that period in PlayStation. If there was a US promo like that, they'd probably pad a good 10 of those with classic PSM demo discs (with the black underside).

I still have a bunch of those discs. Sometimes I play them and the ones for PS2 for the games that didn't do as well as they could've. Plenty of titles had sequel/franchise potential.

I hope there's a few obvious lemon games in that 100+.

I bet you can't keep playing them past the 15 days. What would be the point otherwise? This is trying to move people into subscribing to the service, they wouldn't subscribe if they could just keep playing the games they get from this promotion. This will certainly work just like a 15 day PS+ subscription.

I also wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't some kind of catch here but it does show the benefits of keeping a PS Plus membership. We've already seen some of the benefits so far, so it makes sense that Sony is pushing hard to get more people to convert to the service. I do wonder if after the 15 days your access or the saves will be inaccessbile.

I lived in Japan for two years and still imported a lot of titles for the simple fact that my Japanese sucks, I can't read Kanji. But yeah, the prices are pretty comparable to the US and Canada and you can often find games cheap pretty quickly at discount shops, which are everywhere. It's just unbelievable how screwed the rest of the world is when it comes to the prices.

Yeah most companies run on $10 = (currency) 10 for everyone when--as several posters have stated in other posts--just isn't the case.

This looks really great actually and just another reason why I'm happy to have a PS Plus membership. Having access to games that I don't really own anymore due to lack of care on my part, is just great. I wonder if they are doing any updates on things like graphics (nothing major just a little smoothing) or if we're getting straight up PS1 edge. Either way, I really want this stateside.

I wouldn't necessarily be against that. It'd be nice to get my hands on old school games, especially since time has decimated what is left of my original library. I have a giant list of games that I'm hoping they could possibly release. If we're lucky we might even get some Japanese games sent over.

I believe it would be just full on, pretty jagged, PSX goodness instead of touching things up.

This. If you're getting 100+ old school titles, I wouldn't push for them to be touched up...especially since the effort wouldn't be worth it when they're probably won't even sell them for 1/2 of the original price if those games reach the Store.

Nice one DrRipley, thanks for posting this! I'm going to try this when I get home, I've been meaning to create a Japanese PSN account. I can't post links in the forum yet, but if you google 'sign up for japanese psn' you should be able to find a nice guide on the process. As soon as I try this I'll let you all know how it goes!
