Upgradable PS3 games for the PS4​

Here you can find a list of PS3 games which you are able to upgrade to the PS4 version for a nominal fee.

  [*]Watch Dogs (January 13, 2014)
  [*]Battlefield 4 (March 28, 2014)

The dates next to the above titles are when the upgrade offers will be available, so there is still a little wait (but not that long really).

Just to bring you up to speed for those that aren't entirely sure how this program works, customers who buy a brand new physical copy of one of the above titles will notice there is a code inside the game case. Use this code and for an extra $9.99, you will be able to upgrade your game from a PS3 version to the PS4 version via PSN download. But the important thing to remember is that you will still need the PS3 game disc in order to activate the PS4 version. This means everytime you want to play the PS4 version, you will have to have the PS3 disc in the PS4, so it is best not to trade or sell your games after you upgrade because in reality you will still need the PS3 disc.

If you decide to purchase any of the above titles digitally through the Playstation Store, you will not need to redeem any codes. If you purchase one of the above titles from the store, the PS4 upgrade will automatically appear on the PS Store for the mentioned $9.99.

I'm sure that more games will be added to the list soon, I'm still hoping for GTA V though I'm realistic as to when that is going to happen. Still it's a small list of some of the top games of the year that will be available and the fee is pretty good. Though I'm not sure if I'd be personally willing to pay it since the upgrades to graphics won't be all that impressive.

Whoa, this is going to be nice. With the issue about having to keep your PS3 cd, I guess some people wouldn't get this clear, your upgrade act as a virtual rewrite on your PS3 cd.

It's a pretty cool concept. It's always good to be able to upgrade the graphics in a game you love. In PC games it's pretty standard, but for consoles I don't think I've seen it done in this way. I'm not sure how I feel about having to pay for it though. It makes sense, but at the same time doesn't. If people are willing to pay I get it.

Great news, I was hoping that something like this would come along. There are some of my PS3 games that I would love to continue playing, especially on the PS4 console. This page is bookmarked and I will return!
