Anyone else kind of regretting beiing early adopter of PS4?

Don't get me wrong guys. I knew the issues of getting a new next gen console and I have no doubt I am going to love the PS4 once Naughty dog releases the next Uncharted, Watchdogs, Infamous: Second Son, and other true Next Gen games. I pre-ordered early from Amazon as I wanted to get the first batch. Take a look at the footage from Watchdogs on the PS3 and then the PS4. It is night vs day as Watchdogs for the PS4 is a really great looking game that is truly next gen.

My problem is I don't really have room for the PS3 and PS4 hooked up to the TV that I use to -play the PS4 so I unhooked my PS3. I have a 3D TV but the PS4 does not support 3D BDs. I have several NASes but the PS4 does not support DNLA. I do not like FPS so Battlefield, COD Ghosts, and Killzone aren't my type of games. I really liked the first two Infamous and was ok when it was delayed to later December. Now we are talking April 2014 and I would expect more delays and Watchdogs may not be out until 2015 and the current rate we are going.

I am not blaming Sony on this although I suspect they knew ahead of time these games would be delayed and didn't want it announced to later. However, I do not know that for sure but I certainly would not put it past them or any console maker.

I guess I am a little more disappointed than I expected. I know it takes time to write games for these new systems and figure out the potential but right now there is not a single game on the PS4 I find compelling. I like Trine 2 the best and it is just a slightly nicer version of Trine/Trine 2 on the PS3.

I have been a PS + member since Day 1 on the PS3 and the PS4 only has Resogun (I call it Defender 2013) which is about the same as Super Stardust on the PS3 and Contrast which is terrible. Warframe is a pay to play game so it is not really a PS + game. I know they give you a starter pack but if I wanted Microtransactions then I would play Plants vs Zombies 2 on my tablet.

Knack should be included as a PS+ game! Knack can be fun in small doses but it is just is too much of the same. I never thought I would say this but it should be a shorter game with less fighting the exact same enemies a thousand times.

I also am very disappointed in the controllers and the fact there is no way to turn off the annoying light which helps keep the battery life amazingly low.

I know I have trashed many things about the console but it is no difference with the xbone either. I am just a little surprised there has not been more games considering the fact that the two main consoles (outside of Wii U) are using very similar graphic chips and both consoles are so close to PCs with their Radeon Graphics cards that I felt we would get some good PC game ports for the PS4.

I may just unplug my PS4 and hook the ps3 back up and wait a few months and then wait until The Evil Within releases as I love survival horror and am hoping that is like the original Resident Evil with Next Gen graphics.

Is anyone else feeling a little let down even though you know early adopters have to go through growing pains? Of course I do realize supply of PS4s may be short when the big games start being released!

Well the thing with being an early adopter is that the games just aren't there yet, and that's an unfortunate consequence. Most of the high end titles that people bought a PS4 for aren't being released until 2014. And I get not being completely satisfied in the controllers, though I like it despite the fact that the touch screen in my opinion isn't necessary. You're just not going to get your monies worth out of the PS4 until next year.

I know. I was just letting off steam a bit. It annoys me a bit how the games have been delayed after all the preorders and I promise that the software developers knew Watchdogs and other games would not be ready.

I just watched the Video of The Evil Within which is created by the makers of the original Resident Evil Survival horror games before they became action shooters. I hope they were showing it on a different platform because Gran Turismo 2 looked better on the PS2 than their advertisements for this game on the PS4.

I don't quite get why their should be any difficulties with using Shadow generations and anti aliasing properly on a decent Radeon card.

It will be interesting to see what this system is capable of once the big boys (like Naughty Dog) figure out how to get the most out of the PS4.

I guess I basically didn't want to find out if the PS4s are in low demand when the big games come out.

I've been seeing a few comments similar to yours online regarding the quality of the launch games - especially Knack. I think the delay of Watch Dogs and Drive Club was a significant hit to their launch, and it's just fortunate that it didn't affect them too much. Had those been released on time, I suspect PS4 early adopters would be a little less disappointed. The good thing is that I think they will be released pretty soon.

Say what you will about the Wii U they had more things going on with the launch. That's the disappointing thing about the PS4 other than indie titles, there really wasn't much going on with the launch. They needed Watch Dogs and Drive Club and it hurt them that those titles weren't delayed. Xbox at least has Dead Rising 3.

The Wii U is easier to program 4 because it is basically in the same hardware class as the PS3/360. However, the Wii U will look so outdated in 2 years when all the big games come out for the PS4/Xbone. The Wii U goes after the casual gamer market. There main competiti0on is probably smart phones and tablets.

It will be a fight between Microsoft and Sony on who does a better job on the exclusives. Sony easily one last gen IMO but it will be at least 5 years before we see which was the better console to purchase. I am just glad the consoles were priced better this time.

I will say that I get the feeling the PS+ is not going to be as good of deal as previous generations. It looks like Sony's model is to pretty much force the PS+ on everyone like Microsoft does with the Xbox Gold. I liked the fact that I got good free games with the PS+ on the PS3. It looks more like the PS4 is going to be giving away only the online part of games for free and you still will have to pay $60. I am not big on online gaming and care more for single player adventures like Uncharted as an example. Yes they have online play but the heart of those games have been the single player adventure. The PS+ may be better for those who just like playing online games but I really hate to see the shift to more DLC and Microtransacations in games. At least on the PS3, you could pay $60 for the game and play the single player and online as much as you wanted without the subscription to PS+.

I understand your disappointment, but there are always moments of regret for early adopters. Just wait until spring of next year. PS4 was a good early buy because the price won't go down for a long time. Consoles almost never have a lot of amazing launch titles, but they are coming. Sounds like you could have waited to get it, but you won't save any money unless you wait 1+ years.

I agree about the price, but for me it isn't a big deal to wait. The price itself isn't an issue but when I'm certain that it will go down in price at some point I prefer to wait. Same with games, unless I'm very eager to play them. I've only bought a handful of games new and I have yet to buy a brand new console on release date, but who knows. I still think buying consoles on release date isn't the best idea because it inevitably causes you to spend way more money.

I understand your point but waiting likely 2 years for a $50 price drop doesn't seem worth the saving to me. The PS4 was the first console I purchased on Day 1 and it was because of -price and it would suck if there is a shortage of PS4s when Watchdogs, infamous 3, and other big games are released.

I believe this console was probably rushed because Sony didn't want to release a year later than Microsoft this time. The Watchdogs video preview for the PS3 is the only software out there that really looks Next Gen. Watch the video for the PS3 version of Watchdogs and then watch the PS4 and you will see what I mean,

I read that some people got bad PS4s. I have not kept up to see how big the issue is but I know mine does not have any problems. Day 1 & 2 I could not get on the Playstation network and when I called Sony they had a recording saying that PSN was down.

I hope Sony hasn't pulled a Microsoft with the new console. The Red Ring of Death on the 360s was embarrassing because so many people got them. I have an original FAT PS3 that I bought when the first price drop came out. I also bought a PS3 Slim for the living Room TV which is mainly used for watching Blue Rays, Streaming movies, etc. Both of these units work fine and the FAT was kept in a home entertainment console where it did not get much air. The FAT PS3 is a little loud with the fan on but the PS3s were rock solid.

I wouldn't say the console was rushed, I'd say people rushed to getting the console. The console is ready as is, launch titles have always been pretty dry on PS consoles--bar for PS2, there was a good number of titles and a little something for everyone--and there wasn't a wait of months between launch and non-launch titles in the launch window.

Like 'Tiger said, people were antsy/impatient and just couldn't wait for when it would be convenient to get one and when there would be a better selection of games. The North American release of the PS4 was kinda like the PS2 release in Japan. There were only a few games, but by the time it released in the NA and Europe they got some of the games for Japan, games for their markets, and games that were getting ready to come out anyway.

Now it's like everyone (except Japan) are in the same boat of a meh launch and having to wait until spring for a good amount of games to start trickling in.

This is the first time I have ever gotten a console so close to release. I'm not regretting it, but I am getting board of the few selections of games. However I know there will be more games coming out within the next year and getting a PS4 now is kinda like a long term investment. The moment I found out that it was only $399 was the same moment I decided to get one. Was shocked at how low it was compared to the PS3's starting price (Which was $599 I think).

As it's been said before, Sony actually learned from the pricing. The closer you get to $600 has always shown that your console will need to start shaving off the price. The PS3 actually began dropping the price, but other consoles like the 3DO never learned its lesson. $400 for the PS4 is very convenient. It's not the best price out there, but for what you get with the PS4 it's a wonderful price.

I agree, I don't think the PS4 was rushed at all. They really seemed calm and relaxed throughout the entire launch process, and like I said, I would only attribute the sudden lackluster feedback from the lack of games which Sony doesn't have much control over. Had those other titles been launched, people would have been a lot happier with the launch. Also, the price makes for a lot less reason to be regretful about it, not that it's that cheap, but at least it's cheap enough to calmly settle for a bit while waiting for other games to come out.

That's true, had the PS4 would've been $500 and had this line up I would've been irritated. It's like the 3DS release, it was priced a bit high for what it came with. It's a nice price for you sit out the upcoming months until the meaty titles come out. Nothing to regret there.

I think it is rushed due to the lack of games. I am not arguing that the hardware at least on papers is more powerful -than the xbone. However, it would have been nice if they gave their exclusive studios more time to develop software so there were real next gen games at release instead of EA porting everything possible.

It would have been nice for Pixeljunk to have released a new Monsters game for the PS4 with upgraded graphics. Even a $15 dollar type game can go a long way. I personally think Resogun is the best game they released for the PS4 to date which is really sad. On metacritic, the Flower update has the highest rating of all PS4 games.

It has to be rushed somewhat do to the so called console wars.

As for the 3DO, I loved playing that when I was at a friends in college but I could not afford one as a poor broke college student and the 3DO died in a hurry due to it's pricing.

I do agree the pricing is right but renewing the PS+, buying extra controller, and some crap games and I spent around $600 on the PS4 with nothing to show at this point. I probably would have waited if it were $500 bucks or cancelled my preorder when watchdogs and Infamous 3 were cancelled.

Sony better come up with a damn good reason to buy the camera this gen because they have been a joke the last two generations. At least Microsoft is ambitious with their Kinect although I have no need for it at this point. Maybe they will get it right one day,
