I don't know how staring at a TV for hours can improve vision, or improve language and math skills for that matter, but I agree that it reduces stress. I like to play video games when I'm extremely stressed out from thinking too much and making conscious decisions that when I get home I just want to do things that a game commands me to do. It's a great relaxing hobby.

Not sure about pain relief either. I have never gotten a prescription for playstation for having a bad back. I wish it did though. Could tell my wife my gaming sessions are doctors orders.

Playing video games really don't seem to help with eyesight or language and math skills...and they pretty much nuke social skills. Double edged sword if playing online. Depends on if you're mostly playing with high schoolers in an FPS or something.

Wouldn't that be great, though? "Here's...a prescription for 2 games. You seem too stressed, so you won't get FPS unless you play them offline. Take that to your local digital recreation apothecary and see what you can get. Also, plenty of naps between sessions."

Dream world. Take two games and call me in the morning. However I'm afraid rehab would be full as many wouldn't be able to get off their meds.
