Which brand works best with the PS4, I'm thinking about changing to an SSHD. The problem is people are saying that WD SSHDs have issues working correctly but I've only used WD HDDs before so I've no idea which brand is good for the PS4.

Does the 7200rpm HDD get hotter since it's running faster? Right now it's between the SSHD and a 7200rpm. Which one is faster for the PS4? Not really considering SSD since it's out of my budget for 1TB space.
I already got the 900MB update downloaded, just waiting to make a decision on which HDD to get and finding a USB flat enough to fit into the PS4 for initializing the software.

Hotter, well I dont think you can feel any difference put it that way.
But I think you'll find some 5400rpm HDD's will run hotter than a 7200rpm one even. Im sure Sony only put a 5400rpm one in the PS4 to keep costs down.

So I went and bought a 1TB SSHD after checking some infos and found that it runs best. It also seems thicker than the regular 2.5" HDD, I hope I got the right one and it will fit.

You basically need a laptop HDD size,so standard 2.5" and it needs to be no thicker than 9.5mm I believe,if its the wrong one you will have issues.

Cant say about WD brand but Im using a Hitachi 7200rpm 1TB one.I know many are using this and so far Ive had no probs, had it since day one.
I did think of a SSD but didnt want to spend the extra.

Dont forget then as well as downloading the latest FW file you also need to recovery file, that one is almost 900MB.

Dude! Thanks for this! I installed a PS3 HDD via youtube but when my bud wanted help with his ps4, not even youtube could help. This helped immensely though. I wasn't even going to reply but I saw this earlier and I fixed his problem. He trusts me I guess...thanks to you that trust is kept lmfao
