PS2 Online

I know most games are unplayable today. But I know some (Battlefront 1 and 2) are still playable. Anyone pick up a game or two online on the PS2 somewhat recently? If so what games?

On a side note, would be pretty cool to coordinate some matches through this forum

I actually was never aware the PS2 could go online until the PS3 came out. By god I would have loved to have played Star Wars Battlefront 2 online.

Is anyone surprised those servers are still active?

I remember my first online game on the Playstation 2, it was Tony Hawks Underground 2!
I was really excited and after connecting to the server and see a bunch of players, my mind was blown. haha

Not for Battlefront. Game still has a loyal following. Last I jumped online a couple months ago when introducing my girlfriend to classic PS2 games (I will turn her one of these days >:^) ) there were still quite a few people playing.

I brought out my PS2 from the closet a few months back and played Killzone on it. I tried to connect online but nothing happened. Everything online is dead already. How do people still play Battlefront on it, I thought EA already shut down all the servers?

That's because EA doesn't run those servers. They never have. They never had nothing to do with the game until Disney licensed them to make games.

Battlefront is seemingly immortal.. I don't understand it honestly, the game is good and all, but people are STILL playing it?!? Thats insane.

Not surprising at all. It had and still has a cult following and a big fanbase. Plus people have been wanting a new Battlefront for years. Its been 10 years since they released one so its not surprising those who want to play it fire up their PS2 to play (hell, I still do on a fairly regular basis). Remember a couple months ago when they announced they are working on the next Battlefront and people lost their minds.

People are still playing Phantasy Star Online--I first played it in 2001 when it launched stateside--through private servers. Sony closed the servers for EverQuest Online Adventures and I believe that some people have gotten together for a private server.

...always felt they should've continued Online Adventures on PS3.
