Hi ALL,
I thought I would share the above with you.
Today I received my Seagate 1TB Hybrid Drive from Amazon and installed it within 10 minutes!!! It was very easy and there are instructions on the Playstation website as to how to do it. I must point out that I am not experienced when it comes to modding BUT I do like a challenge.
My first impressions on swapping out the hard drive was that it was very easy and there are a lot of tutorials online if you would like to see how it's done. I have used my Playstation 4 as much as possible and can confirm that there is an added improvement in load times, especially if loading a previously played one. The hybrid drive is very quiet and the added real estate means that I am not tied to the 500GB originally supplied by Sony. I am sure there will be bigger hard drive coming out in the not too distant future but for the moment I think my 1TB is enough.
You may be asking why I opted for a Hybrid drive and not a solid state, well the answer is simple. I wanted something affordable and the hybrid was the best chioce for me and my wallet!!! Solid state drives are expensive, especially in the larger volumes and can cost almost the same as the console itself. I may, in the future fit one BUT only if the price is right.
I will let you all know how I get on and if there are any problems with it but after installing the drive and loading the operating system through a USB it was just a matter of re-registering my details and re-downloading from PSN which was simple enough.
Thanks for reading and I hope it gives some of you an idea of what you may wish to attempt in the future.
I will try to upload some photos of my install so you can see but am aware there may already be some on another post.
ATVB!
