PSN will be offline on Monday 1/27 for six hours.

Sony has announced it's taking PSN down for six hours on Monday January 27 to perform mandatory maintenance.

In Europe, the maintenance will take place between 5.30pm and 11.30pm GMT, while North America will have the PSN taken down between 9.30am PT/12pm ET and 3.30pm PT/6.30pm ET.

Fortunately, I'm not going to be online at that period of time. I hope that it's really going to be just six hours as promised and not going to have delays and stuff. What do you guys think of this, do you think you can survive six hours without PSN?

I really find these long maintenances during which they take PSN down completely rather annoying. Does Xbox Live have this happen too? Geez.

Oh well, at least they're not doing it during a weekend this time.

Xbox Live too have these maintenance but they are usually brief. I also game on the 360 so I know it. They rarely do maintenance so this is one part that LIVE is better than PSN when it comes to stability. Some downtime here and there don't affect me since I'm more of a single player person.

Did you sign into PSN over the weekend? If you signed into PSN 48 hours before the maintenance kicked in then you can play online freely.

One of my friends had his PS4 delivered yesterday and couldn't do much with it.

Hell if I know. In the week I play an hour a day in the evening, more than that and I'd be neglecting the missus. So if that counts as signing in then yes. Otherwise, my PS was off until after maintenance started.

That's an unlucky friend, I'd be enraged if that was me haha.

Wow, I didn't even notice, I'm no where near my Play Station so I couldn't even tell if that happened or not, thanks for the heads none the less.

Didn't even notice, hopefully this mandatory maintenance doesn't become a regular thing though. I can imagine getting ready to game and only to be greeted by a maintenance error.
